we will have to see, im guessing that the refs will have some sort of warning or instructions before the game. Also i doubt we will be seeing some rookie ref IMO.

The more I hear Richards' quote, the worse it sounds...

What a whiny loser

Don't forget that Moore had actually injured Naslund. Subban merely made Richards cry. It's not the same situation. I am guessing that some plug will fight Moen/Lapierre and that will be it.

i hope that's what will happen, but i cant guaranty that situation. Same applies to the league. Hence, its better to be prepared then to have some sort of stupid situation that degenerates and then look foolish later on. On that premise, and past experience as you alluded to, that's why i think the league might communicate to the refs befofe the game. We might not hear about it.

As a Wings fan I like PK.

Seems like an honest hard worker with a little chip on his shoulder and is not afraid of the "veterans" like Richards.

No, you dont get it.
It was explained on the main board, or the Philly board, that Carcillo it there to be a punk while Subban is a puck hog, thus it's legit when Carcillo runs around.
Flyers' logic, I guess.

He is a gem of a player that does not back down from anyone, including Crosby, Malkin etc. And he is very talented!

You know, maybe Richards's words would make a lot more sense if he didn't play for Philly, which has Carcillo, who's basically a huge sideshow.

Damien Cox on That's Hockey: "PK, keep doing what you're doing..."

He also pooped on Richards who was telling the Habs to control Subban when he's the captain of a team that allows Carcillo to run around

Stamkos with 3 goals and 2 assists tonight. Not sure if Richards was defending him, but you figure all-world Mr. Selke Richards would be huh? He's suppose to be the captain too. 8-7 loss. What an overrated team and player.

I hope Boy Scout Richards warned Meszaros after that very dirty hit, that something might happen.

Richards sounds like he's back pedalling on his comments a bit...

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=341918

Quote:
JD: If you really were captain of an All-Star team, would you pick him?

MR: (Laughs) Dubinsky or Stamkos?

JD: Dubinsky.

MR: Uhh...I'd probably take a few before him.

JD: What if there were only two guys left and he's one of them?

MR: Who is the other guy?

JD: P.K Subban.

MR: (Laughs) I'll take Duby.

JD: What specifically did Subban say to upset you?

MR: I'm not going to get into this again. He's a great player, don't get me wrong. I never meant to start an uproar with a minor comment. It is what it is.

JD: Is there a code for how rookies should behave?

MR: I went through the same thing. I remember my first year we were playing against New Jersey and I was running around and lipping off to Patrick Elias. Elias came to me and Sergei Brylin too, and they said, “If you continue to show disrespect for players, you are going to get hurt.” That really hit home. I didn't want to be known as that guy who shows disrespect. I want to be a guy who plays hard in between the whistles but not cross the line. That was six years ago, but it hit home. When you hear it from a guy like Patrick Elias, who has a done a lot in this league and is well respected, you remember.

JD: Have you had a conversation with David Booth since that hit last year that really started the entire “blindside” debate?

MR: No. I fought him the next time we played when he was in the line-up, but I haven't spoken to him.

JD: Was your heart in that fight Booth instigated with you?

MR: No. (Long pause) I still don't know how I feel about that whole thing. On one side, it's hockey. On the other, you are looking at a guy being out of the line-up for a long time, and a helluva player, too. I obviously don't want to hurt anyone on the ice. I wouldn't do it again if that's what you are asking. I wouldn't hit a guy like that again if I'm put in that position.

I'm sorry but that kind of threating isn't called for in hockey, period. Richards is no saint himself.

This whole thing became a big deal because the fans made it a big deal. Some of the comments in this thread are pretty ridiculous. We don't know what was said on the ice.

Subban's a young defenseman with a lot of potential and a joy to watch but he still has lots to learn and perhaps he does run his mouth too much. Alot of people are bringing up Carcillo. Is it Richards choice to have him as a teammate? No. Did Torts ask for Sean Avery after bashing him for a year on the TSN panel? No, but you're stuck with these guys, so the whole Carcillo argument is pretty weak.

Richards is also a great player in this league and people should take off their red white and blue colored glasses and just let it be.

Classic: "When you hear it from a guy like Patrick Elias, who has a done a lot in this league and is well respected, you remember..."

Whereas when you hear it from a guy like Mike Richards, who has delivered epic cheap shots in this league and is basically an ape on skates, you lol.

Comparing Richards to an ape is demeaning. For the ape i mean.

That was a good interview. So he's saying the same thing happened to him where he was in the PK role and Ellias was the vet.

One thing I don't see in that interview. Did Elias go to the press and whine about Richards, or did he just handle it on ice?

Richards should have passed along the advice he was given, and not gone and cried to the press about it. If any lessons need to be learned it's by Mike himself - keep it on the ice!

Man, I love when stuff like this happens. This is what makes hockey exciting, I cannot wait until Monday's game, there should be a lot of intensity.

Must watch game for the league IMO.
