Rostislav Olesz has a terrible contract. A knee injury ended his season in February. If he is still hurt in June,Florida can't buy him out for a 1/3. Cap number is $3.125M but he is owed $11.65M over the next 3 seasons.
Olesz for Drury.
Florida buys out Drury for $3,333,333 in real money

Chris Drury buyout from CapGeek.com
2011-12: $3,716,667
2012-13: $1,666,667
The $3,716,667 cap hit helps Florida reach the floor. The Islanders reached the floor with Yashin's buyout.
Rangers free up $3.925M in summer cap space.
Rangers compliance buyout Olesz in the new CBA. Olesz can play in Europe next season.
Florida saves over $8M in real money. They would have to throw in something to sweeten the deal. Olesz is making $3.4M in 11-12,$4M in 12-13 and $4.25M in 13-14. If the Rangers compliance bought out the last 2 years,it would cost the Rangers $5.5M if the buyout system remains the same 2/3 for 26 and older. Almost $9M total.
Atlanta wanted to buyout Todd White but a shoulder injury prevented them so the traded him to the Rangers for Brashear and Rissmiller. They bought out Brashear.

I do not believe he is signed anywhere - yet... Pittsburgh seems like a probable destination. Or Edmonton (he has previously stated a will to play with Hemsky and he would be a huge mentor for their kids).
I saw this http://www.sports.ru/en/hockey/96661150.html
Then again - isn΄t Sather a pal with the Big Boss Anatoly Bardin of Avangard Omsk? JJ signs in Russia for another year and maybe something like this goes down???:
GS - Mr Anatoly Bardin - We should for future cooperation between our great organizations trade 2 players for season in 2011/12. We take old man Jagr off your hands and you get our All Star defender Wade Redden? Deal? AB - Hmmm is thees guy gooood? GS - Why yes. An NHL All Star and Olympic Gold Medal Winner. AB - Olympeeks. Hmmmmm. Yes We have next Olympixxx here in Motherland. Gooood. We want more. More is good. GS - (Scratches head and thinks -Where did that Dominic Moore go now - damnit?!?) Well we have the biggest meanest fighter in the league. Derek Boogaard. He even scares my grandchildren. A monster. Heard you guys are getting a bit chippy over there. We can throw him in too... AB - Interesssteeng. I vant sometheeng more. GS - Here is a box of Cuban Cohibas and I throw in 10 lifetime Box seats for our teams at MSG. Plus all the vodka you ever want. AB - DEAL. But I hav lotz of Coheebas. Feedel is good man but not a hockey fan. Baseball. Give me box of latest iPads instead... GS - Sure...
Leino adds a legit second scoring option who can swap between the top 3 lines. Ehrhoff adds a nasty shot and solid D. We take a Flyer on Wolski (young RFA with huge upside).
Buyout Drury, Trade/Minors for Boogard, Avery and Christensen. Horak is a place holder for whoever can fill the spot out of camp. We slide in just under the cap and have a solid team.

Why would Drury care which teams buys him out? He will become a free agent on July 1 whether its the Rangers or the acquiring teams buys him out. He can't block an ordinary course buyout or a buyout outside the June 15-30 period. So if the Rangers find a taker for Drury and that team agrees to buyout Drury in exchange for waiving his NMC,Drury is going to reject the deal? If that occurs,he is a piece of ****.
According to Damien Cox,the world will come to an end again

Start with a request for another 24 per cent salary rollback. Think about chopping the cap back to, oh, $45 million. How about reducing the players share of hockey-related revenue to less than 50 per cent from 56 per cent, slashing the maximum salary from 20 per cent of the cap to 15 per cent, making a five-year term the maximum and taking a run at guaranteed contracts.
Now think about how Don Fehr will react to all of that.
With revenues up, Fehr will be looking for more, not less. The players will want him to take a run at the hated escrow system, the mathematical configuration that makes the salary cap system work. The players hired Fehr not because he knows the difference between a puck and a pitchers mound, but because he has a reputation of playing hardball with owners and winning, even it means work stoppages.
Given all of this, you have to almost bank on the 12-13 season not starting on time, if at all. The worse the news gets from Phoenix, Columbus, Long Island, etc., the greater likelihood another hockey nightmare is on the way.
It's not the PA's fault those teams are struggling. The NHL is boasting about league revenue being at all time high. NBC deal. Winter Classic. HBO 24/7. Another long lockout? Please

If this is true Glen Sather instantly becomes the biggest idiot ever alive. If there is another 24% roll back all the long-term contracts will become insanely good. Like Devils will have Kovalchuk on a 4.5m life-time contract. And we will sit there with our short terms deals and "mobility" come 2012 like the biggest idiots ever when everyone else have tied up their big stars for extreme bargins. Lol only in ranger land.

I actually don't believe in a lockout either. Or it depends on what the opinion in the NHL front office is on what gives the product quality, and how important quality is all together (like if the NHL only had 30% of the best players in the world, would it make less bucks?).
But a serious attempt from dudes with money to launch a professional league in Europe will be made for sure if there is another NHL lockout. There would be no transfer agreement between that league and the NHL and they could just snatch any player they want. And even some NA's would certainly jump ship to make like 8-9m tax free as opposed to 3-4 after tax in the NHL.
It's probably too early to ask this question (I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just curious)..

I am not so sure. If Rangers bought him out and he gets signed by for example Cats as a FA he will lose about $ 6-5m in salary..
Drury's salary next year is 5 mil. If he gets bought out, he gets 3.33 mil of that. I'm sure someone will sign him for at least a mil, so he won't lose much if anything.

Well i didn't know that the 3.33 mil will add to an ev. new contract. Apologies for my lack of knowledge
How do these kids find out about these events? I'm probably just as bad (if not worse) at hockey as them, I would have fit in perfectly. I would have just went for the autographs.

I get regular emails from the Rangers for this stuff. You probably just have to sign up over at the official website.
Valentenko is not on the free agent list released by Ring
Quote:
The Whale currently have seven restricted free agents:
D – Stu Bickel
G – Chad Johnson
C – John Mitchell
LW – Brodie Dupont
LW – Devin DiDiomete
LW – Justin Soryal
RW – Dale Weise
The Whale have three unrestricted free agents:
C – Todd White
C – Chad Kolarik
RW – Jeremy Williams
Matt McCue is also a group II. He wasn't a CT Whale player. That's another SPC off the books.
Schoenfeld said Mitchell will be given a QO. Ring wrote Kolarik would be re-signed. Have to figure Weise will be re-signed.
The Rangers have signed 8 players to ELCs and Tommy Grant is too old for the entry level system but he signed his first pro contract. Chris Kreider and Blake Parlett are the other two players which could sign ELCs.
