Early January I left Bell for Yak (small-time ISP claimed no association with Bell or Rogers.. bull). Bell charged me extra 2 months in a row even though I monitored my usage and ensured it didn't go over 51/60Gb. They still charged the same as if I'd used 70Gb.

With Yak I got the unlimited plan for an okay price. They claimed unlimited was unlimited for real and they had no intentions of calling me to tell me "hey you're hogging too much internet" ... until 2 weeks ago.

In the bill, they announced that they won't support Unlimited plans and that the 60Gb limit will be imposed as of March (same as the big fish).

Moral of the story: Yak is shit. Shit people (2/4 employees were rude, 1 hung up on purpose). Shit service (claimed that they can get things sorted out with Bell to transfer our lines over. Failed miserably and we were delayed 2 weeks).

Yak was simply adhering to the CRTC UBB decision which gave the big 3 Telcos in Canada the power to impose their will on the small ISPs. They had no choice but to impose the cap after giving the 30 day mandatory warning. Things are changing big time this week. Don't forget to go to "open media.ca" to sign the petition.

Yes I realize that, but that still doesn't explain their incompetence. And I already signed.

Signed what? Every unlimited plan was going to be nullified as of March 1 due to the CRTC UBB ruling.
