I'm going to vote Cleary Howard and miller with miller representing the 4th line. I coulda vote Abby or Helm but I think Miller deserves some recognition too.

kinda tough to see Miller and Eaves on rotation though. Modano should be happy wings are winning .. cuz if we are in a losing streak, I could very easily see him sitting out for Miller or Eaves.

1. Cleary - just keeps scoring. With his luck, he'll take an errant mouth guard to the eye and miss 6 weeks. Stuff like that seems to happen every time he heats up.
2. Howard - one of the best stops I've ever seen at the end of the 1st, does a full split and stops it with the very end of his toe. Probably wanted the 1st goal back but overall a really good game.
3. Rafalski - didn't think he was great defensively but 3 assists are worth something. Could have gone with Abdelkader here too.

Modano is probably done. With Stevie, you could tell the legs were gone at the end but he still had the hands. Modano has no hands anymore either...that play where he is alone in front with the puck and doesn't even get a proper shot off was just sad.

1. Cleary - Danny boy's hotter than a urinary tract infection (stick tap to the Replacments for that line). 2 goals including the game winner.

2. Rafi - What did you expect when we got Rafi back? You expected him to drop dimes. 3 helpers for the d-man from Dearborn.

3. Jimmy - For that toe save late in the first, for keeping the game close until the Wings got their wheels in the third, and for providing that chill pill to the team right around this time one year ago that's allowed them to relax and just play hockey. .917 SV% tonight too.

nah i think it's too early to make a judgement. I dont think Holland got him to score bunch of goals during the season. He could be a driving force for us come playoff.. maybe or maybe not.

Also I think he has some qualities that most Wings just don't have.

Ericsson has quietly had a nice start to the season. It doesn't jump out on the stats but he's been playing the game they way he needs to play. It's a great sign and bodes well for this season.

Great third period. I voted for Rafalski, Howard and Cleary for the three stars. The fourth line was really good too.

Hudler is playing a little better but I wonder why he is the only one with a permanent spot on the 2nd PP unit over Filppula, Franzen, Bertuzzi and Cleary. It’s not like he earned it.

I thought Mule was really lazy in his own zone. He wasn’t really an upgrade over Homer on the first line either. I wonder what’s wrong with him.

Cleary and Bertuzzi are really playing hard and creating a lot of scoring chances. With all the line shuffling, I was kind of hoping that Babcock would put Datsyuk between them for a few shifts to see what would happen. Bert is now leading the league in +/- with +13 !

He has really simplified his game. Makes safe plays, doesn't try for too much, is mindful of his positioning.

It's really night and day. Less is more.

most of wings play keep away centric game. Toying with opposition with superior skill seems their priority. Actually most European players follow this mold IMO. I dont know if it's their snobbishness in their culture or what but that's for other times to discuss. Anyway that's why Wings don't usually shoot too often unless they create some real good chances. However, those real good chances are read by opposition teams too often in these days. Also unless Wings are really motivated, they seem to take too long time to analyze before they make a play unless they see something obvious.

Modano plays scoring centric game. He thinks about scoring goals all time and it doesn't matter if it isn't a grade AAA chance, he will take a shot because sometimes that's all it takes. Doesn't even have to be a hard shot. I think he had some influence on Cleary early in this season and him shooting the puck at every chance. Just my opinion.

Also Modano is pretty fast and helps us on breaking out of our zone. Well he has been hit and miss in this department but his speed is needed because Wings aren't really a fast team.

I thought E was great tonight.

3 Things stood out to me tonight about him:

-I remember him standing up physically on a guy in the 2nd, which I loved. He knocked him flat on his ass.

He also did a great job setting up Modano all alone on a 3-2 leading the rush.

But my favorite play was when Rafalski flubbed a puck at the blueline, and a Blues player (Steen maybe?) picked it up and broke in. Ericsson did a great job to get back and use his long reach to force a shot before the attacker was ready. His poise, skating ability and angles were all great on that play.

1. Howard
2. Cleary
3. Ericsson

I'm voting Ericsson. I could vote for Rafalski, anyone on the 4th line, but Ericsson was our best defenseman. He had no points to show for it, but was consistent for all 60 minutes and when it mattered.

Howard made some absolutely brilliant saves tonight and was robbed of a star. Cleary with the game winner and two really good goals.
