All four of Maineís NCAA D-III menís ice hockey programs get underway this weekend, and it should be an exciting, and unexpected season. For one school, Bowdoin College, they hope to get back to the NCAA Tournament and go one step closer to that national title, while University of New England continues to build a program thatís only in its second year. For Colby College, they have the experience to make a run at the NESCAC title along with the University of Southern Maine, who is a team shrouded in anonymity, but that may not be a bad thing.

Biddeford, ME – The University of New England men’s ice hockey team earned a huge 5-2 victory over Amherst College (MA) on home ice at the Biddeford Ice Arena Friday evening for their first division win of the season, snapping a seven game losing streak for UNE.
It looks like Bowdoin is continuing to dominate the NESCAC. Although, Hamilton looks to be making a strong push. They really made a statement earlier in the year when they beat SUNY-Oswego and were one of only two teams to beat the Lakers thus far this year.
BTW, SUNY-Oswego was my pre-season pick to win the D-III National Championship and Bowdoin was my preseason pick to win the NESCAC.
