Most people would say trade him away for a late pick and or a mid prospect. But i believe that the best option for Michael Ryder would be once Sturm and Savard come back would be to send him down to Providence. Yes, he would have to go through waivers and re-entry waivers, but who would claim him with his contract?

If a team does come calling for him, the Bruins would have to take back some salary and that wouldn't help them with their cap situation.

What would be the best place to put Ryder?
How is this marked as speculation? It's just a question you have

No viable options in this poll. It should've included a 4th option for:

* Keep Ryder and trade Wheeler, Paille, dump Sturm instead

is it possible for some of the higher paid players to renegotiate their contracts so they pull in less money thus making the team cap compliant? would this make the team cap compliant or would the original cap hit still stick? i know there are very (VERY) few athletes in the world that would take a cut in pay to ensure the success of their team, but i thought i would just throw this one out there for curiosity's sake.

Far as I know, teams are not allowed to re-negotiate existing contracts at all.

I think it is to have peanut brittle knee caps clause

The CBA does not allow for the renegotiation of contracts.
