We kind of let this one slip away. They still have the same D, and a good checking game. I think they have a little more offensive capabilities now. They’ve got two pretty good lines offensively, and they check good. I thought we had our opportunities at our end, but we gave them a little too much, I think."

It’s nothing to do with our scheme, nothing to do with our system. I think it’s just, me myself — I can’t speak for the other guys out there — but for me, and watching the other guys, it’s not lack of commitment or effort. It’s the mental side of the game that I think has slipped, the last two nights."

Their first goal [and] their third goal I thought were breakdowns, where it was very easy for them. We lost our coverage and they were able to keep themselves alive there. A couple of their goals are from their secondary scoring, fourth line. They end with their big guys scoring the winning goal for them. You can be down if the other team comes in and beats you. Then you deal with it, you absorb it, you suck it up and you move on. We don’t like the way we’ve played here now the last couple of games. As I said, a couple of those goals looked pretty easy for them, and that’s really out of character when we have a one-goal lead in the third period. I thought that’s something that we’ve been able to shut down, and do the right thing the rest of the game to maintain that lead and win the game. We’ll have to just tighten things up as we head out on the road."

- Next HOME Game -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

I will be at the game tommorow as well. Driving in from toronto. Going to be a good game. We need to battle back after a loss.

I have seen some terrible losses in buffalo over the years but im hoping not this time.

We have a great young team. Cant wait.

Here is some info for you on the Sabres

Forwards
Line 1
Ennis - Roy - Vanek
Line 2
Hecht - Connolly - Pomminville
Line 3
McCormick - Niedermayer - Grier
Line 4
Gerbe - Gaustad - Ellis

Defense
1st Pairing
Myers - Sekera
2nd Pairing
Montador - Leopold
3rd Pairing
Butler - Morrisonn

Miller
Lalime

Healthy Scratches
Craig Rivet
Mike Weber
Both Defensemen

Injuries
Drew Stafford (Shoulder)
Patrick Kaleta (Sternum)

Buffalo's D is the top scoring D in the league with Leopold, Myers and Montador leading the way.
Ennis-Roy-Vanek line was put together 5 games ago and they have been on fire ever since.
Rivet may play, unkown as of yet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks static80, pretty much the combos I had compiled doing my research.
Should be a good fast paced game like last season when we played the Sabres.
Hopefully the results are the same, as I think we went on our 9 game East Coast road trip winning streak after the Buffalo game last year didn't we ?

edit: YEP, I looked it up, in Jan 2010, we had just lost a 5-1 butt whoopin against the SHARKS,
then beat Buffalo in a thrilling back and forth 4-3 S/O victory @ Staples
and then went on our East Coast Road trip sweep where we beat the Wings, Leafs, BlueJackets, Bruins and Devils
and beat the Rangers, Ducks and Wings at Staples before losing again ... wow, deja vu as looks like this team can do THAT again I hope

Makes the fact that Harrold can play any position but goalie kinda useful don't it ?
I can see Lombardi being shrewd enough to be using this to add to his cap room budget, why call up someone to only sit, or does the salary keep counting unless they go on LTIR ?

I'm fairly confident that it only comes off the book if it is on the LTIR. Otherwise, someone could scrape his knee, the team could put him on IR, and get him off the cap rather easily.

Your welcome Puck U. Tried to PM you on it, I see you did get the info.

I'll be scouting your teams on ice roster to see if there is any possibility we'd make good trade partners .
Always looking to improve the Sabres.
On a side note for this game, be leary of the Hecht - Connolly - Pomminville line this game, they haven't contributed much since Pomminville returned from concussion, they will be looking to turn it up a notch. Otherwise, I give LA the advantage this game.
Good luck, here's to a great game.

While I don't think King is the answer (he's certainly one of the few options right now) I'm glad it's not Richardson. Don't get me wrong, I love what Richie brings to the table, I just think he has no business on the first line w/ Kopi/Brown.

To be completely honest, I wanted to see Clifford get the shot and leave King on the third line.

Above all, just win the damn game!!!

Go Kings!

I'd rather see Trevor Lewis on the 1st line instead of Dwight King, or someone like Moller, who's got some NHL experience

Trevor Lewis would be interesting with the speed/hustle/skating but I think TM probably views him as more valuable centering the 4th line.

Would definitely be interesting to give it a shot if we can get up 2 or 3 goals with 8-10 minutes left...

game preview: http://lakingsnews.com/2010/11/19/ki...-game-preview/

King on the first line is truly a funny one for the record books.

Who knows when you'll catch lightning in a bottle, but Jimmy, Smyth is really the only LW on the team that truly has any business playing with Kopitar. Lombardi can't be happy with a rotating rookie door on his franchise center's left side.

Welp, I won't be surprised if this team comes back down to earth in this road trip.
Not necessarily. Our games have been won and lost on defense.

While we absolutely need someone to stick on Kopi's wing for good, a player that doesn't exist in our organization right now (because its not Parse), even though one of our guys may grow into that roll, this road trip will be all about the middle and bottom D pairings. Can they stop the mental lapses? If so, we have a good chance at winning every game. If not, well, it won't matter how well Kopi's line plays.

That said, at some point we must learn how to win a high scoring affair as well as the tight checking games we have been winning.
