Haven't played roller in about 4 years now. Have a rink 5 blocks from my house. Tried picking up a pair of used skates at Play It Again in October but they didn't have anything that fits.
Just take Sunrise Highway to Grand Ave and go South. Stay on Grand Ave and you'll hit the park eventually, then you just need to keep driving and eventually you'll see it on your left. It's actually to the right of the marker in the link above.
There are no lights there so the games are mostly played during the afternoon. I'd say it gets busy around 2 on weekends and you can usually get at least a 4v4 game with the occasional goalie.

also i remember williston park on long island has/had one (don't know if they lock it up) any idea how good that place is?
i have skates that a fellow HFer gave to me but they don't fit, one of these days i'm gonna exchange them and get something in my size.

There are two within 15 minutes of my house. Both are about 10 minutes from Pelham Bay Park depending on which entrance you're at. One's in Morris Park and the other is in Throggs Neck.
I wasn't able to make it to George Harvey park today and it's gonna rain tomorrow. But during the week with the lights on I will be there at night @ 7pm.
At George Harvey, is it just pick up? What equipment is required? Ball or puck?
I would love to just show up and play, I really have been looking for a place to play, preferably roller hockey with a ball.
I play indoors at Skate Safe off of route 110. If you want to get a game before summer, you can rent the rink out. I don't believe they have games on Fridays and they usually have a break over the XMas holiday as the fall season is over by then. I play my last regular season game tomorrow, then it's playoffs, so it's almost over.
IMO Baldwin (for anybody that knows the rink) is the best outdoor rink I've played at in Nassau/Eastern Suffolk area because instead of the blacktop that eats up your wheels there is a sport court surface. Beautiful! Any games there on the weekend?
Have you played at Long Beach? Same surface, smaller rink, and it has lights.

Do you guys still play there, and if so, what time?
George Harvey Park's game is a godsend, played there a few times when I was still in Queens. Competitive, guys actually pass, frequent shift changes, great surface, sometimes even....TWO goalies. I'll have to make the drive out there one weekend.
I play at Massapequa since the surface doesn't eat your wheels as bad (used to be an ice rink), but like mentioned previously its all HS kids.

funny part is I saw my old K-2 skates last week and have been thinking about playing. But I haven't played since I was 20 (30 now). Do they have pick up games in LB? I might have to think about playing again.
I've been playing in Maple park in Smithtown, right off 111. Smaller rink, good for 3v3, but full boards, sport court, steel nets...not bad at all for a public park.
