ESPN INSIDER: Does Moving Rask Make More Sense?

I don't have access to ESPN insider but one of the insider rumors right now has the title: Boston shopping Tuuka Rask?

This can't be legit can it?

I'm at work right now so I can't really research it too much

Can someone make sense of this please??

That would be the stupidest thing ever, not the level of Kessel for Seguin and Larsson, but still pretty stupid. If they want to shop one of their goalies it should be Thomas.

It's absolute garbage that someone made up and has no link whatsoever to anyone involved with the Bruins:

"Most of the speculation thus far as been about the Boston Bruins trading Tim Thomas, not Tuukka Rask. But TrueHockey.com's Andy Strickland writes, "Boston is seeking a puck moving D-man and the re-emergence of goaltender Tim Thomas has given GM Peter Chiarelli some options to play with. If you're Boston would you hang onto Rask who obviously can't help you in the playoffs if he's sitting on the bench?"

Now, it's probably unlikely they deal Rask, mostly because he's clearly their goalie of the future. However, if a puck-moving blueliner becomes available on the trade market, Rask could be a valuable trade chip and the Bruins might be willing to make that swap, especially give the rarity of puck-movers.

That said, it makes a lot more sense to trade Thomas because the veteran stopper carries a $5 million cap hit until 2013. Getting rid of that cap number would provide much-needed flexibility for the B's."

Rask for Doughty, or I'm not on board.

There is no way this is true

Dumbest move imaginable. I'd trade any member of this organization before him.

I simply refuse to believe there's anything to this. I hate when people say things like this, but if they dealt him I'd have a hard time supporting this team.

So there's no way to put the word SPECULATION in the title?

Steven Stamkos couuld also be a valuable trade chip. Maybe Tampa wants to trade him for a goalie?

Damned silly. But I have already gone down this road and know much:

The Journalists dont generally write the headlines.

So take the article for what it is. The headline is ridiculous. Actually, the article is too now that I read the quoted part.

Thank you.

Thanks! And thank god this doesn't appear legit. That trade would be like trading your star center for 3 role players

Rumours are just that, I don't think Rask is being shopped, it makes no sense. We have to move salary, Rask's salary is so low, we might save 200k on a back up if he is moved?

The Leafs are rumored to have offered their 2012-2013 and 2014 1st rounders

all of this.

I doubt they do move rask; if they did they'd prbly get at least a half decent prospect goalie in return too I'd imagine, not that that'll satisfy us.

I mainly imagine this being like Eklund... "well this team needs this, and that team has that, so... Team A will trade with team F now"...

It's like anything else with ESPN, their NFL and MLB coverage is great (probably NBA too, but I have no interest in that) and their hockey coverage is good for a laugh every now and then.

A guy that knows very little about the Bruins makes up a "this makes sense" hypothetical that makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

Color me surprised.
