Watching Rick Nash score against the Ducks... would be nice if the Kings had a player like that as their 1st line LW...

Kopitar hasn't been great, but what support does he have? Brown has been good this year, but he isn't the best at carrying the puck is more of the power forward. The guy who is supposed to take the pressure off of Kopitar and let him work his best is our LW. Dwight King is not even a NHL-caliber player at this point.

There was like ten times in the game where Kopitar would whip around the back of the net, try to find someone to pass to, and King would either fumble the puck on his stick or be entirely lost.

Who plays the LW? Brown doesn't like it and Lewis is a C/RW.

Then when Poni comes back he goes on the third line. Again does anyone think this is a good idea? It will be extremely hard to get a first liner without giving Simmonds up.
It's not worth it. We have enough to keep us afloat for a while. I'd wait till be get closer to the deadline and get your yearly Ray Whitney for a 3rd type trade that is always available.

Lombardi needs to convince Guerin to try the LW out west.

Depends on who the first liner is. His age in relation to production and cap hit

Probably. He deserves a chance, but that would just dismantle the 4th line. Can you imagine King/Westgarth on the same line? Clifford would be the most highly skilled player on that line. Don't even wanna imagine King/Clifford/Westgarth with Drewiske/Harrold paired together. It would be a night that we would never forget.

We just really need to make a trade. Lombardi said that when the time was right, he would get the man that fit the system. The stars have aligned and this should be the time.

We might get a good game or two out of Lewis/Richardson on the 1st line, but we will have 5 more nights of the 1st line being invisible.

I would rather wait it out until Poni comes back and stick him on the first line. But everyone crowing for a trade really does need to understand that a trade can't be pulled off at this stage of the season without sending that to a team in return.

The first line situation is very unsustainable though.

I know Hemsky is a RW, but he'd be a solid pick up, don't you guys think he'd fit nice beside Kopitar? Teubert, Moller and a pick? Would that be enough? Could Hemsky play LW?

I think he's taken the physical part of his game to another level this year.
From what I'm seeing, Kopitar actually lets himself get caught in those situations. He skates right into a crowd or eliminates his passing options by putting himself in a position where all he can do is pin himself against the boards to protect the puck and wait for a linemate to help retrieve the puck.

Just observe the shifts Kopitar takes and look what he does. He'll take it wide (predictably), slow down, try to go around the net or stop up to look for passing options, where everyone (including himself) is covered. Then the puck ends up back on the opposition's stick for a counter attack. Happens every damn shift.

Smyth, Parse, Richardson, Loktinov, and now King. Five different 1st line left wingers in less than a month and a half. It's not even like our 1st line LW even got injured. Parse went down, but he wasn't the answer either.

Ugh, we'll probably win tomorrow with King as the first LW, and we will hear that Murray is ecstatic with the win and think that we are good enough lines 1 through 4 to beat anyone.

If we play like we did tonight VS the Bruins, we're definitely not winning

Thank you for the good game LA Kings, from a Buffalo fan.
Do not be so hard on your team, you have a fantastic team with very skilled players.
I envy you, victory or not.

I enjoyed watching them play, and I hope as the season progresses there may be an opportunity to do business as trade partnes to help one another out as teams.

Once again, thank you for a great game.

Waiting for Poni could be the best option, but it's tricky. We still have ten games left without him, and even when he comes back, he probably won't be 100%. Also, he probably isn't the option either on the LW. He's a perfect person on the 3rd line. He worked well, cycled well, and did his job to the best of his ability. When he was thrown onto the 1st line with Crosby in Pittsburgh, he went down in flames and got kicked out. That could possibly happen again if he's put with Kopitar.

I would take Ilya Kovalchuk even if he had 0 points through 50 games over any options we currently have.

Kovalchuk would draw attention off everyone double teaming Kopitar and open up the ice. No one in the NHL is going to be scared of Dwight freaking King coming down the middle.

Neither the Stars of Sabres would trade those guys. If we could get those guys, we would do it right now and not look back.

The only options are probably the Oilers. We could probbaly get Hemsky or Penner if we offer up two of our defense prospects.
