I'm really trying to figure out what's going on with Zherdev. It's obvious that Lavy doesn't like him...but what's going to happen? Three shifts in the second and third combined. 2:11 played in the final 45 minutes of the game.

Is it really worth it?
It seemed like he had a solid game against Tampa too. I just hope it doesn't lead to problems because like some people have said, having Zherdev or JVR on the 4th line when Powe is playing in the top 9 doesn't make sense.
I missed OT and the shootout so it was awesome to get text messages from my friend telling me we won! I really figured with their shooters we'd be screwed, especially when Roo didn't score.

Because Powe is playing well, doing his job, and creating chances for his linemates while also playing above average defense.
Maybe, but he's still the coach and he can still play him as the extra man. It's ultimately his decision.
I'm fine with trying out Carter at wing, but at least have the sense to do it at LW. Heck, his goal tonight was from coming down the left side.
I'd wager that a lot of his goal-scoring is from either the PP or from playing C this year. I doubt many of those goals he has so far came while playing on the right side.
Don't get me started...again.
I've wanted this to happen. Over the Summer someone posted a graphic they made of approximately where on the ice Carter scored all his goals last year, and a large number of them were from the left.
All I know is. I like what Nodl has become. Im starting to like him.
I agree it is as if we are seeing him develop before our very eyes. He looked SOLID in college and I was excited when we drafted him. For whatever reason he had trouble finding his game at the NHL level at first, it seems like he is starting to find his game again.
Flyers are 8-0-0 against teams at .500 or under … Unless Zherdev’s effort picks up, he’s going to continue to be rotated on his line with Nodl and Richards. James van Riemsdyk took some of his shifts. Zherdev’s ice time has been dropping steadily and went down to 6:10 in this game without a single second of power play time … Flyers/Caps were the two highest-scoring teams in the NHL with 70 goals coming in … This was Neuvirth’s first, career start against the Flyers … Nodl has five goals this season two in his last two games ... This was the Flyers’ first shootout win ever against the Caps. They were 0-2 … Briere is 8-for-19 in the shootout (42.1%). He has four career game-winners in the shootout … Flyers are now 17-27 in the shootout ... Andrej Meszaros was +1 and is now +14. Teammate Sean O’Donnell is +15 ... Both games against the Caps this season here went past regulation. Flyers won’t come here again unless these two meet in the playoffs… This game marked the quarter pole in the season.
Boosh played pretty well tonight. Not great, but he did his job and made a couple nice saves to earn the W.
I don't get what some of you want out of him.
Agreed. He just played well enough to win against one of the very best in the league after sitting on the bench for a month. Almost all the goals they got on him were really nice power play snipes or fourth chances. As much as I am not a fan of Boosh the goalie (Boosh the guy seems super nice), I have to admit he played really well tonight given the circumstances. Good for him!

I think he'll be gone by Christmas.
It's a shame too. Him and Giroux were looking like they could really go to town in the offensive zone. He may turn it around yet, who knows. Wasn't Samsinov a similar case in Carolina? I seem to remember him busting it on the backcheck, playing D and sometimes checking people when they won in '06.
Wishful thinking maybe.
After watching the game I just keep thinking that I'm really happy to see Nodl seizing the opportunity and scoring some big goals for us. That guy is a worker bee out there on the ice. And damn if I'm not happy that we hung on to Scott Hartnell.
