Halifax Mooseheads

Anyone want to take a stab at how the Mooseheads will do in 2010-11?
Specifically, how the team will evolve from last year?
Guys like Abeltshauser, Corbeil, Andrews, Desjardins etc. are still young and should improve for next season.
Then there's the newcomers Ciampini, Ryan and Ashley(assuming he reports).
Are the Mooseheads still on the outside looking in, or can they potentially make some noise this season?

Most people think that Halifax is still another year away from being one of the top teams in the league. That said, I wouldn't expect them to be in the basement of the league again. They have a strong young core in place and they are gaining valuable experience together. Making the playoffs will be a huge experience bonus for them going into the 2011-12 season where they'll make a run for the Memorial Cup.

Yeah they will definetly be an improved team. I see them mid pack and maybe a first round playoff win, but nothing more this upcoming season.

That's both potential NCAA players joining the team next season.

Well that makes 3 goaltenders now, I wonder who will be out Delmas or Corbeil? Im guessing Corbeil since hed get more in return as Delmas is an OA. Let Terenzio backup this year and start next.

I read in that Metro paper today that Russell is bringing back practices in training camp this year, and one of the reasons was so that they could get a good look at all three goaltenders.
I still have the feeling that Grant, Bety and Amyot are going to be the three overagers that return. Amyot might become expendable though if they really have faith in the young defense.

I really liked watching Halifax play last year, when I did see them play I found they skated, played hard, worked hard and seemed to have bought into whatever the coaches were telling them. I think with more experience and perhaps a bit more talent I think they can be a top tier team in the future

Any truth to the rumours that Sarnia and Prince George might pass on Frk?

Yes, from what I`ve heard one is drafting Martin Marincin and I can`t remember who the other is drafting...Frk would go 3rd to Halifax.

Wouldn't mind going to a few playoff games this year, nice to see that Halifax might have a chance to get there. I'm not sure about a cup run in 2012, though.

As a mooseheads season tickets holder.. I'm crossing my fingers. From what i've read and heard, Frk sounds like an a guy who could generate a lil bit of excitement around the metrocenter!

It would be Frking amazing. Sarnia is drafting a russian as it seems, and Prince George is picking a defenseman. I can see the Mooseheads taking Frk, Jensen, Rask etc. I would love Frk over the next couple seasons with Gelinas, Konrad, Ciampini, Terenzio, Ashley, Andrews wow

Looks like it's time to Frk things up.
The sign potential in the crowds with that name is just incredible.

But seriously, Halifax now seems to have a great core of young forwards. Maybe it's the homer in me, but I really think this team has a great future. Might take another year, or even two, but Russell really seams to have built something here.

The sign potential will be amazing, we're sure to see some creativity!

I'm hoping the core of Andrews, Gelinas, CIampini, Frk etc. can outperform our last successful season's core of Marchand. Voracek, Knotek, Bodnarchuk, Mcmillan etc.

I can see a cup contender in 2012 or 2013!

Now that Frk has been secured, how does that affect the team this season? Anyone think he can come in and be an immediate offensive force? I have to admit I haven't seen much of him, other than a few brief clips.

Frk will not make a miracle happen this season...expect Halifax to be more mature in 11-12....this year they will probably finish 5th in the Maritimes ahead of CB.....

I think Frk is gonna become a fan favourite pretty quickly. Especially if he can live up to the comparison of Cam Neely that some are throwing on him.

His agent says he is excited to come. I don't have a lot else but a good wrap up.

It's About Frk-ing Time

Anyone had a chance to see Frk in practice? I've heard he looked great, though a little rusty. Just wondering if anyone had some first hand observations.

I went to the season opener last night and Frk was first star, with two assists, both nice cross-ice passes in the offensive zone that directly led to goals (the first one was one-timed into the top corner).

3-2 loss for the Mooseheads, to Cape Breton, but it was an entertaining game. There's some talent on this year's squad.

Frk played good last night. Halifax and CB came out a little slow but the third was entertaining. The Moose lost but atleast their PP is showing some promise

I watched it on Eastlink and both Frk and Ciampini impressed me, especially Frk. He was probably the best player on the ice most times and has some very good vision/passing.

Where's Konrad Abeltshauser and Sawyer Hanney? I went to the first 2 Moosehead games (vsCB & vsTitan) and they were not playing. Are they by chance attending the NHL rookie camps?

Oh, and Frk is really talented. He definitely stands out on the ice
