Stolen from Rangers board. As OP says, take it with a grain of salt. None the less it is still interesting.

Take with a grain of salt, it's from Incarcerated Bob. However, he's gotten many other things right before any media outlet has reported them (End of Revis holdout, Sandy Alderson being hired as Mets GM, Yankees firing pitching coach) so it's worth mentioning:

Well, if there's anyone who would overpay for Iginla it's probably Sather... but still I don't want to see it happen, of course. If I were Iggy I wouldn't waive my no trade clause for the NYR. They have no better chance at winning the cup than Calgary does.
The only thing I was told on this is Calgary and La have talked they may deny it but where there is smoke there is fire. Does not mean Iggy is going but there is interest for him.
Vicki Hall also reporting that the Flames organization has specifically told Iginla he won't have to waive his trade clause. Lets put these dumb rumors to rest. I bet the last time anyone inquired about Iginla was pre-lockout.

People reporting Iginla will be traded, people reporting that he won't. It's as if sports experts make **** up as they go along.

Uh that's not how it works. Some media sources are credible. Dreger and Mckenzie are credible and have real sources, the Herald is generally credible, Eric Francis isn't, bloggers usually aren't.
Well if anybody's dumb enough to do that trade it's Sather... Have to say, if that's what is offered, who wouldn't jump at it?
Except Sather usually fleeces Sutter in trades. Also, Sather is only dumb, and I mean really DUMB at FA signings, although Fedotenko has been a great signing so far.
If Iginla can score 120-140 points for the Rangers, and play defence every other shift for say the next 10 years this trade makes total sense for the Rangers. In fact, think of the salary they would save by having one player capable of doing all that.
