Totally but really Sather fleeced Sutter once in the Jokinen deal... not more than that.

It would be interesting to see who would get the better of this deal. After all, we are talking about two of the worst GMs in the NHL!

I would not put Sutter amongst the worst of GMès in the NHL, sure Flames are struggling and change might (should?) be the best way but still I do not classify Sutter as a bottom feeder GM

essentially getting a 4th Liner in Prust for a 2nd/3rd liner in Kotalik isn't exactly a fleecing either

he only makes $3 million... people act like we took on Drury's montrosity of a contract... if Kotalik was making $2 million per season no one would say a damn thing... and if Kotalik returns to his form of previous seasons $3 million isn't a bad contract... I am so sick of the people writing guys off because of 1 bad season

Are we talking about the same Kotalik here?

The one I know has scored 25 goals as a max and that was 5 years ago. Not even quite sure if a 20 goal Kotalik is worth 3 million given +/- either.

i never said he was worth 3 million... i said it wouldnt be that bad... until last season Kotalik had put up a 20 goal pace every year of his career... what's the going rate these days for a 4 time 20 goal scorer with size?... it will easily be 2-2.5 million at the least... and let's be honest here career wise Kotalik isn't that far off Nik Hagman, a guy who's salary nobody complains about

Yeah it's pretty easy to jusitfy paying Hagman 3mil, because of his backcheck and high work ethic, in addition to his offensive prowess. His goal on Monday night was something special, not just because of the talent we saw, but the hard work that proceeded it. I cannot say the same for Kotalik, so I'd say it's a poor comparison. Until he proves he can put up numbers at a 20 goal pace and be a consistently hardnosed player I'd say the jury's out on him.

Regardless, as it stands right now it was stupid of Sutter to pick up his contract. Maybe he'll prove otherwise, but us fans need to see him play more games first.
