Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Eberle get 9 points in 9 games in the AHL two years ago... Then 14 points in 11 games last year....

He went there twice and excelled; so when Eberle looked good in Oilers training camp this year, he had already earned the right to start in the NHL...

Yup, on a different board some kid tried to tell me if not for Eberles defensive play, Omark would have got the start over Eberle in the NHL.

Dang near pee'd myself laughing at the stupidity of that statement

Lets see

EBERLE:
Born and raised a Oiler fan
National Hero 2 years ago in WJC
Reaffirms "Capt Clutch" nickname in last years WJC
Oilers put in minors last year at end of season where he plays at ppg+ pace
Oilers put in World Championships where he continues to shine
Oilers sell outta Hall/Eberle merchandise over summer before camp
Training camps filled with spectators to see Hall/Eberle
Plays on top line for every preseason game hes in

vrs

Omark:
Unknown till couple internet goals
pro scouts all give "outside chance at best" to make Oilers
Media pretty much ignores till after tthey overdone the Hall/Eberle/Paajarvi stories
plays on 3rd line or 2nd line for preseason games hes in

LOL, seriously.

Someon explain how Eberle wasnt going to make this team ahead of Omark??? LOL

no one is arguing that we should make team over eberle, but seriously, did you call him unknown before some internet goals?

edit: Mattias Tedenby, very small player is having success with devils som far and he had like 19 points in SEL last season.

Out here, he was basically unknown
Didnt get any press coverage, no one was talking about him

First time I ever read about him since draft was his internet goals last year!

Pretty text book case of unknown to me.

To late now but I guarentee you, you got ask 50 Oiler fans, maybe 1 or 2 for every 50 even knew his name last season and before.

And actually, my post (the last one) was created because some over hyping, propagam machine churning fans are claiming he should have made team over Eberle.

The mystical level of nonsense surrounding this players is reaching epic proportions already. To read some of the posts on this very boards about him, they make it sound like Gretzky himself is being forced to toil away in the minors!

Personally, with all the crazy hype the swed fans have built up around this guy, I personally dont see how he can live up to it all and will ultimately be veiwed as a failure.

I mean they claiming hes a gpg player in the NHL when hes not even (not even close to) a goal a game player in the AHL. Take away his one 5 point game and hes not even a point a game player on a VERY GOOD TEAM in the AHL.

No way this kid lives up to the hype his "fans" have created around him.

I agree with the obvious choice here but you appear to undersell Omark exponentially. He's no slouch either. Despite the trademark Youtube goals that fans seem to base his stardom and skill set off of. Eberle was a seemingly normal player until his famous WJC goal(s). He didn't get real recognition until than either. Only difference is the continent they grew up playing hockey in. Ask Swedes what they think of Omark. It's called national bias. No comparison between the two players though. There impending reasons why Eberle would make the cut are simply overwhelming.

The difference is that your viewing of his play is seemingly insignificant to non-existent. Omark has been putting up solid numbers in professional leagues while displaying an elite level of flashiness and strong overall play. Fans are excited to see him play hockey here. He has put in his dues overseas to get here. Your interpretation of him is not a textbook answer for fans watching him more often than just his Youtube clips. Speak for yourself.

Who the hell said he would be a PPG player? Noone here that I've read the post of. Chill out. He has exceeded expectations of spiteful haters like yourself thus far in North America. He has made an incredibly quick transition between hockey systems, playing style and ice surface. Take that into consideration before you make your compellingly biased and predisposed posts.

You need to start relaxing. Your dislike for this player is turning you into a liar. Nobody states he is going to be a 1 goal per game player in the NHL. Are you on drugs or something?

Reading that people have doubts when it comes to Omarks character is strange.

He is a star player in Europe. Swedish media are all over him cause they can not understand how one of the worst teams in NHL still don't have a spot for him. His tongue slipped a bit during those post camp interviews, but he never had an attitude problem in other clubs as far as I know. He believe in himself for sure, but when he finally make his debut, Oilers will benefit from that confidence.

What makes the criticism even more odd, is that he has all those tools that skilled euros often lacks, and NA fans usually loves. Sure he is a small player, but he is competitive as hell and not afraid of crashing the crease and going in to the corners. He can take a hit from whoever it is, mainly because his balance and split vision are excellent.

I can see why many of his fans wants him in Oilers uniform right now, but IMO there is no rush. He can adjust his game in a winning AHL-team, and maybe put on some more weight next summer. He also need to play more straight forward and work on his defense. Not because his not ready for NHL. He sure is. But I think this year can develop Omark from a 3-line wing to a top NHL player, IF he can improve his game in the same pace as he did during his last three seasons.

But my guess is that he also need a couple of games in NHL this year, just to know that Oilers see him as a part of their future. Otherwise you will lose him to another club in NHL or KHL next year. Personally, I would rather see him as a Flyer or a Leaf, but that is another story.

If i was Omark i should be mad as hell first losing a boat load of case for sign for this clown organization second he donīt even got fair shot in training camp and still he put up numbers.

I should have more understanding if Oilers was good wining team but when u have worst team in league lazy over payed vets and u not even try him out.

Talk about management really showing him we have no plan for you.

I really hopes they traded him u canīt be in organization as young player how rater choice losing before even trying out player what he can do on NHL level.
