Well, there's two problems.

As already mentioned by another poster, it doesn't look cool on paper.

Also, Erik Christensen is the single worst thing to happen to the New York Rangers franchise, sooo anything that involves him is a negative.

But I agree, whatever keeps us winning is what i'm cool with.
I don't think Artie's ice time took a hit, which is what I'd classify as a demotion, not playing between Prust and whoever else was on that line...Torts was just looking for some kind of spark, and it worked.

If they keep the line broken up for awhile, I'd like to see Anisimov get a shot with Frolov and Gaborik as well. IMO Ani and Frolov could work really well together.

Then give Stepan a shot with Dubi and Cally, if he works well keep him, if not, Christensen looked good between the two.

I wouldn't mind seeing Boyle center Dubi and Cally either. It'd be interesting.

Thats what I was thinking. If Torts is going to break them up. Put Boyle on the 2nd line and Anisimov on the 3rd line. One of the best thing about the pack line was the way they cycle the puck. They can still do that with Boyle. That would be a nasty physical line to play against.

Glad to see someone else just like me on that subject.

No matter what Christensen does is a fail in my eyes - call me "not a real fan" all you want, but HE is one of those people I would boo no matter what the positive outcome of results.

Even if he scores a goal or two, it won't happen again for 30 games. And he needs one of the game's most elite snipers to do so.

Also, someone tell the MSG broadcast crew that Brandon Prust's 0 goals aren't impressive and they never will be. No, that number is not skewed because of his team game. He's a god damn fourth liner and that's it. Stop moving him up to the second line and stop praising him like he's Mario ****ing Lemieux.

I was being sarcastic, Christensen gets a terribly bad rap for no reason from this fanbase. Dude makes less than a million dollars a year and could probably put up 50-60 points if he plays the entire year in the top 6.

Better give Tortorella a call too:

"Tortorella also attributed the Rangers’ success in these types of situations to a “mental toughness” and a desire to “stop the bleeding.”

Tonight, that was personified by Brandon Prust, who logged 16:03, had an assist, yet was unable to bend his right leg after the game, just as he was unable to do so after suffering a charley horse Friday at Colorado.

Derek Stepan called him one of the tougher guys he knew and Tortorella, praising Prust for becoming one of the team’s core members, called the gritty wing a “different cat.”

“He has a nice little role with this hockey club and he’s earned his way,” Tortorella said. “He didn’t want to be out.”

quoted from Ranger Rants.

Total garbage though, give him 4:00 TOI a night, and stop playing him like he actually works for that 16:00.

it became our only line but now that gabby's back it should be the #2 line. but my point is while they aren't playing as great as they were earlier in the year (when they were probably playing above their heads) they aren't playing bad. they are still score a goal a game, killing penalties, etc. if this line is our concern then we should schedule the parade

For some reason I just really like the potency of those top 3 lines.... Ofcourse everything changes once Drury comes back....
With a break up, I would like to see these lines as well.

The long and short of it is that the organization sees Prust as part of their core and bringing something they don't have.

Don't like it? Too bad. Until someone else comes along who can bring more than Prust does, he's going to be playing more than 4 minutes a game. Especially since he's now killing penalties.

I'm just mad because I really don't like seeing Artie on the fourth line again. This kid deserves top-six minutes.

That's true, I'm going to trust Torts for now, but I disagree with it as well.

He played 12:29. So yeah, his ice time took a hit. (His average TOI in October was 17:49. In November 16:10.)

Highly doubt that. He's one of the most inconsistent players in the league. When he's not padding his stats on Gaborik's line, he's doing nothing to help the team. It's a big problem that he's in our top-6.

I see that 2nd line being a great fit, eventually.

I really think Richards (if signed as a FA and we can buy out Drury) would be amazing for this team.

I'd love to see:

Prospal Richards Gaborik
Dubinsky Stepan Callahan
Avery Anisimov Grachev
Prust Boyle Fedotenko
MZA

or

Avery Richards Gaborik
Dubinsky Stepan Grachev
Prospal Anisimov Callahan
Prust Boyle Fedotenko
MZA

or

Dubinsky Richards Gaborik
Grachev Stepan MZA
Prospal Anisimov Callahan
Avery Boyle Fedotenko
Prust

or

MZA Richards Gaborik
Dubinsky Stepan Callahan
Prospal Anisimov Grachev
Avery Boyle Fedotenko
Prust

or

Grachev Richards Gaborik (holy speed)
Dubinsky Stepan MZA
Prospal Anisimov Callahan
Prust Boyle Avery
Fedotenko

or

Frolov Richards Gaborik
Dubinsky Stepan Grachev
Prospal Anisimov Callahan
Prust Boyle Avery
MZA
Fedotenko

It'd be completely pointless to buy out Drury in his final year.

Except that it's not completely pointless. Buying him out before the final season does give us cap relief without too much of a penalty for the future.

We'd save almost 4 million for that year.

And pay less than 2 million as a penalty the following year.

Jesus. Drury will not be bought out. The organization loves him, he's our captain, and Torts has a mancrush on him. I don't even want him bought out. Only trades.
