□ PENGUINS▶ PANTHERS◀ HURRICANES■ GENERAL◆ HFPensBoard

Another blown lead almost cost the Penguins a second point in the game against the Carolina Hurricanes last Friday. The Canes scored first, on another first-shot-of-the-game that found its way into the Pens' net, this time launched by Brandon Sutter.
One of the stars of the night, Chris Kunitz, tied the game and Tyler Kennedy put Pittsburgh ahead. After Pat Dwyer tied it again, the other star, the other guy - Sidney Crosby - made 3-2 Pens.

Jussi Jokinen got the Penguins and Hurricanes tied 3-3 when left wing Chris Kunitz scored midway through the third period. The goal, ultimately allowed after an NHL review in Toronto, was only Pittsburgh's second in 20 power play chances. Jokinen tied it again, with less than one minute left in regulation.

After a scoreless overtime, Kris Letang and center Sidney Crosby won the shootout for Pittsburgh on Friday night. Crosby also added four points and his 14th goal, while fellow center Evgeni Malkin recorded three assists to give him 401 NHL points.
Jeff Skinner missed and curiously, Jussi Jokinen, who kept the game alive for the Canes was the most important save goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made, to go with his 30 during the game.
Jokinen is 26 of 52 in shootouts, the most attempts of any player, but failed Friday and is 0 for 2 this season.

Marc-Andre Fleury allowed four goals Friday, but he also made 30 saves — some good ones - as the Penguins had some defensive-zone break downs. The Penguins are on a 4-0-1 run, all starts by Flower.
He most probably will start again.

Center Sidney Crosby scored his 14th goal Friday. He has scored 64 goals in his last 102 regular-season games dating to last season. Center again Evgeni Malkin, off to a slow start, has rallied of late with points in five of seven games. He has 20 points in 21 games. Pittsburgh has blow four third-period leads on the season.

Sunday was a difficult day at Southpointe. Crosby left practice early while drills were still underway. Kunitz also had to leave the workout and Malkin, who has played with a brace on his sore left knee didn't practice at all. However, coach Dan Byslma said that all three players should be on the ice Monday for the team’s morning skate at the Bank Atlantic Center. The three practiced today.
Bylsma confirmed Max Talbot being bumped to center L2, with winger again Evgeni Malkin moved to his right. Matt Cooke remains as L2 left winger.
Mike Rupp, Craig Adams and Arron Asham practiced on L4, Mike Comrie and Eric Godard on L5.

Center Jordan Staal skated Friday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his right hand November 2. Staal is expected to be out another month. He was not engaged in any stick work because he cannot grip the stick with his right hand.
The Pittsburgh Penguins miss Jordan Staal.

The all time series against the Panthers is a balanced one. The Pens lead by only one win with a record of 31-30-4. This is the first game of their 2010-11 season series.

□ PANTHERS▶ PENGUINS◀ ISLANDERS■ GENERAL

The Panthers are starting to get some wins on the road, the most recent Saturday against the troubled New York Islanders, losers of their 12th straight game.
Mike Santorelli and Marty Reasoner scored 39 seconds apart early in the second before Santorelli got his second goal and Stephen Weiss finished things off. Tomas Vokoun made 39 saves for the Panthers, who have won four of their past six.
Ironically, it was a come-from-behind win, as Matt Moulson gave the Isles the lead in the first period.

The Cats ended up going 2-2-0 on its most recent road trip, doubling its road win total in the process. The Panthers started this trip with just two wins. Now that the team is back at .500, it needs to get some points at home this week as the team hosts its annual Thanksgiving week homestand.

Panthers center Stephen Weiss left the game in the second period and did not return, because of an ankle problem that's been bothering him for weeks. However, assistant general manager Mike Santos said Weiss' injury isn't serious and that had the Panthers not led the Islanders 4-1 at the time, Weiss would have returned.
Weiss' goal gave Florida its 4-1 lead midway through the period. Santos added they are not planning on calling nobody up at this point.
Head coach Peter DeBoer said today he expects Weiss to play in tonight's game.

Right winger Steve Bernier had to undergo surgery to repair a broken orbital bone suffered November 12 against the Minnesota Wild. He is expected to miss at least 2 or 3 weeks more.
The club re-assigned defenseman Keaton Ellerby to AHL's affiliate Rochester Americans this past Tuesday and recalled right winger Michal Repik to replace Bernier.
Another right winger, ex-Penguin Bill Thomas was recalled prior to the game against the Isles. It had been more than a year since Bill Thomas played in an NHL game before he played 15 shifts for the Panthers on Saturday.
Repik leads the Americans with 17 assists in 18 games.

Left winger Steven Reinprecht (groin) missed Saturday's game after being hurt in Boston on Thursday. He's listed day-to-day.
Another winger, Rostislav Olesz suffered a finger fracture on Thursday after getting hit with a puck while in front of the net. Olesz will be reexamined in South Florida on Sunday but will likely miss Monday's game as well.

Right winger Byron Bitz (sports hernia) had surgery and is now skating. He could return in the coming weeks.

Awesome GDT Kinguin! though I'd have preferred a Brunette nurse, too much Aryan going on right now.

Haha, it's kind of a sequel to last season's game at Florida.
Those who remember will understand. The girl was random at that time.

Oh, your Nucks' GDT was freaking cool, pal. I liked very much. You're hired.
It's good to have a varied set of styles, each one with its features, so it doesn't get boring and nobody in particular has to carry the burden alone.

Great GDT King.

Florida games are always tough for a some unknown reason. Three last victories has come in OT or SO.

Time to take our talents down to South Beach and finish those cats.

Pens need to win this game, and Fleury should rebound from last game.

This is why I don't do GDTs ... there's no way I could compete with the quality of those exhibited on this board.

I don't do GDT's because i don't wanna put 8 hours or more into a thread (i'd do more...when i get into something i become a perfectionist most of the time), and i normally work untill just before or at 1st intermission of a Pens game. Games are at 4-430pm here, not 7-730pm like the West Coast.

I know this has nothing to do with the Penguins, but I thought it was an awesome promo. Go GSP!

It's not so much about competing with each other, but about having the best GDT's on the boards.

I'm trying to do things that will make things much easier for almost anyone to do them, and there are enough skilled guy's doing them that if you requested help, or for something special from a guy like Kinguin, I'm sure they would gladly help out if they have the time. So make those requests early enough, and in most case you will not be turned down.

Kinguin, me and maybe Travis are posting up "Penguin GDT Headers" for all to use in their GDT if they wish. They will be in post #2 in the GDT schedule thread. We hope to have about 15 to choose from. This is a goal to have the best GDTs around with different styles from everyone.

We're a pretty tight group, so there should be bountiful amounts of help if one should want to try.

For those who do GDT's, and the general posters, we are taking up Ideas for the Winter Classic GDT, if anyone would like to give their thoughts & Ideas for the GDT just PM one of the GDT guy's, or should we put up a Winter Classic GDT Idea thread?

This will be a group effort, all are welcome to chip in.

I think we should do a thread and get it stuck by one of the MODs. Basically everyone can put their 2 cents in and when we got to make the build we can just pick what works best together from it all.

i very rarely comment in the GDT, but felt this one deserved it. Great work man!!

on a related note, my friend is a ducks fan. I went on to their board to see what its like, and their GDTs were not even almost in the same league as ours. neither was the general banter or atmosphere.

so great job pens fans! lets get a W tonight

I didn't know Booth was playing on both line 1 and line 2. He must be their Sidney Cros... I mean Mike Rupp.

I'm still not crazy about Cooke playing on that 2nd line. Really wish Kennedy would get a chance. Surely if Dupuis can play on the top line, Kennedy can play on the 2nd.

Still baffles me as to how TK can continue to be overlooked for top 6 duty in favour of guys like Dupuis, Cooke, and Asham.
