If AJ Green was still on the board at #10 he'd be the guy to pick, but it's highly unlikely he lasts that long. I wouldn't mind them drafting Locker, even with the down season he had I still think he'll make a good NFL QB.
If the Skins hold onto the 10th pick here are the three players I would like to see them draft if they are available: Patrick Peterson (LSU CB), Robert Quinn (UNC DE), Prince Amukamara (Neb CB), Marcell Dareus (Bama DT), or Adrian Clayborn (Iowa DE).
Adrian Clayborn would be my choice. I've watched him here and there over the years and he is a beast, and he could play either DE or OLB in the 3-4.
Also, taking a WR with a top 10 pick would be as big a mistake as trading two picks to the Eagles for McNabb. There are so many holes throughout the Skins roster that are a much higher priority than WR that taking one at 10 would be a waste.
Ultimately though, the choice of Luck to return to school has turned the '11 draft into a crap shoot at this point. The best possible scenario for the Skins is that Mallet, Newton, and Gabbert impress in their pre-draft workouts which would lead to the Skins #10 pick to be more appealing in a trade. Then the Skins trade down, take Locker late in round 1, and use their 2nd and whatever else they get for trading down to get line depth for both lines.
While I was a bit sarcastic in the taking a big WR, I do think that's a need.
While Santana and Armstrong were relatively productive, they still miss that big target that can keep the chains moving. Since most likely there won't be a franchise QB (Unless you think Newton is it, who might even go further with a good Pro Day) a WR would be an important get. Armstrong can get the deep ball just fine, but he can't move the chains consistently for my tastes. Throw in the fact that Moss is a UFA (and they have no game breakers on offense as it is really) and I think a WR in a WR deep draft is a good get.
I do think the defense needs players, certainly talent all around, I have a sneaking suspicion that many of those players are going to be addressed through Free Agency. The team has money to spend, and they can attract a lot of players to cover some spots. At least one or two CBs of the modest range would be needed. I think Rogers even could come back, though I think he wants to leave.
As for the defensive line, I don't know that they're going to spend a high draft pick on one, especially since the team feels they were getting better production out of guys like Carriker, Bryant, Jackson, Jarmon and others at the end of the season.
I think Linebacker is a significant priority as well, but I don't know if they are going to address it.
hey guys i just want to know if u have any info on a possible lockout ?
Nothing but speculation is out there in regards to a lockout, but I have to believe once the League season is over in early March that the Owners will lockout the players for a good chunk of the offseason. The Players will blink early in the Summer and an agreement will get done. I cannot see both sides screwing with a good thing and letting this glorified pissing contest affect the regular season.
Oh and how great was it to see the Eagles lose? Another year gone and still no Lombardi Trophy. So sad.
After watching last nights BCS game I would like to see the Skins draft either Newton or #90 from Auburn with the first pick, and then take Casey Mathews with the second. All 3 impacted the game significantly.
With Super Week on going, and local sports talk waxing on about the good old days it got me thinking. The last two times the NFL regular season was affected by labor strife the Skins won the Super Bowl. That, and Gibbs I won his first SB in his second year as HC, Shanahan is going into year 2. And with it being highly unlikely that a rookie QB will start the season for the skins, the starting QB will either be a Theisman type QB (McNabb) or a Williams type QB (Grossman/Bulger).
He's worn down, best move for the Skins. He could very well go somewhere and be the goalline guy in a RBBC situation where he doesn't have to carry the ball 20+ times a game. I could see him getting 10tds in a good situation like that. Maybe New Orleans where Pierre Thomas looks like he's done.
