I usually sport a pretty solid k/d (hovering around 2.0 right now. I think with these last games Im at a 1.98). I know alot of people are in favor of the w/l ratio (which I think is laughable personally), but to me, if I see you have a pretty solid k/d I can tell how good of a player you are. Im not going to ask a guy to join my team who has a .5 k/d but a 1.7 w/l. Get stuck on a bad team, no matter how pro you are (or teamwork oriented), you arent going to win.
k/d is only so helpful... you need to look at it in different game types. In objective games, I couldn't care less about my k/d (you want me on your team in Dom). Now, that's within reason... in competitive Dom games I usually go right around even (so giving as good as I get) because I'm aggressive on the flags (lots of caps and defends). I generally take a beating early on in Dom games trying to nab B flag and then it settles down from there. However, if you got someone that isn't capping flags and going like 4-20... then all they're doing is creating killstreaks for your opponent.
w/l isn't really all that helpful either, because it also has problems with it. I play as a merc in Ground War... and if I can't avoid lobbies with big parties, then I tend to be on the losing side a bit more just because I end up with all the idiots that have no idea what they're doing v. the party. Similarly, someone who plays in parties regularly is going to stomp in some of the playlists.
All that being said, I'm not a beast in the k/d department compared to some. Positive, but I'm a far better objective player than I am slayer.
Well ya, I meant k/d in regards to TD. But even in domination and the such, I tend to see people with the better k/d as overall smarter players though. I do agree, when looking at k/d I dont focus on overall. That being said, I dont think someone going 25-2 on domination is a bad thing. You always need role players when in team objective games. Everyone going for the flag, isnt the smart thing. Having a guy going around killing people, is in the end going to help.
Anyone still playing BC2, or are you all on black ops?
I'm a Battlefield convert now (pc) and will jump on Battlefield 3 when it comes out.
I still play bf2 a bit, I generally stick to Strike at Karkand or infantry only maps cause at this point in the game whichever team has the best pilots straight dominates. Bad Company was just awful to me, both of them.

25-2 is helpful, but only so long as it's happening in traffic areas around flags. If you're going 25-2 and just picking off guys on the outside, then that isn't really doing a whole lot for your team necessarily. Whereas, 25-2 guarding B flag is doing a lot for your team.
Defends is a really great stat. Get really annoyed when I end a Dom game (which we lose) and someone on our team is like 40-whatever with 0 defends.
Psyched for some upcoming sports games being released.
The Show and Top Spin 4 are out in march. Haven't played a Tennis video game since like Sega Genesis but they were always pretty fun. The Show never disappoints. Then sometime this spring the new Tiger Woods game is out and it will finally feature the Masters at Augusta. I'll be getting that for sure.

Mario Tennis was the ****. That's basically the only tennis game I've played aside from a bit of Wii Tennis.
I play BC2 and BC2: Vietnam all the time. Pretty much won't play any new COD games.
That's how I am too, Battlefield games are just more well rounded and way less linear, for starters.
Although I dabble with Black Ops once in a while for a Wager match if i'm bored and need a quick fix.
Speaking of Black Ops, anyone on here play the Zombie mode? ***** crazy and if you have 4 people with a mic it's actually quite fun and teamwork goes a long way, which is rarely the case for most CoD games.

Eh... play objective games against mic'd parties when you're not on one. Teamwork is absolutely destructive in CoD if the team knows what they're doing, especially on objective games.
I've been trying to get into zombies... I don't have a mic, though. It's definitely tough, and I pissed some people off last night because I didn't really know what I was doing (live and learn). It seems borderline impossible solo.
One thing that killed the "friendly" type atmosphere is when party chat came around. Back then, when there wasnt party chat, people would all have mics in the lobby, talking **** or being nice. Now you get into a game, half the people are in party chat and the other have no mic.
Man I can't wait till the next week starts. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Special Edition will be coming in the mail (shipping Monday from CT, so it might be here Tuesday/Wed) and it is going to kick so much ass. Anyone else getting MvC3?

I recently got a headset and chose not to get a mic just because I have no desire to converse with about 50% of the people on there. Definitely is an advantage, but my God is it an ugly slice of society going on out there... babies crying, idiot 13 y/os, etc. I turned off the mics for MW2 so I couldn't hear the chatter after a little bit because it was such drivel... haven't turned it off on BO yet, and for whatever reason the crowd seems a bit better.

Yea it's one of the reasons I prefer my PC for shooters, the communication is far better and for the most part if you frequent a server you inevitably start to become much more friendly with people then you would playing Cod.
general announcement that needs to be spread amongst the masses: if you're going 1-17 and it's not even halfway through a domination match... get the **** out of Ground War, you suck and are ruining the game for everyone on your team.
Lol people who complain about team mates, when playing in random servers make me laugh.
There are easier game lobbies to play in (Merc TDM, and FFA) where you won't get your face stomped in and kill your team's chances at a win... and you'll also improve. It's a dumbass move to play in a lobby where you're just getting your teeth kicked in... you're not going to get better, and your team is going to lose.
I love using Bayern Munchen online in Fifa. I normally use Juventus but they are terrible matchups against some teams because of their lack of speed and strength. Just finished playing a good game he was a lvl 27 I am only a 9 went to PKs stoned him four straight times.

What frustrates me is when it matches a team of Prestige players against a team with 4 guys level 15 or under. I don't understand why that's necessary, and I've never seen it end well.

Usually that's parties. What's bothering me on Black Ops is the splitscreen situation. That puts people at a disadvantage (smaller screen than they're used to), and it also usually involves at least one person who absolutely blows. Had a splitscreen that went a combined 10-45 in a game yesterday (10-23 and 0-22). Definitely the primary reason we lost the game (Domination, and the last few minutes of the match were killstreak after killstreak getting dropped in). This is a new problem with Black Ops... and not sure there's any way around it other than people staying in easier game lobbies.
More annoying was the game of Domination where my team sucked but we had one really good guy... went 40-1... no caps... 1 defend. It was a close game. We probably would have won if he'd pushed up into the middle of the map and helped on B (we were playing Cracked).
