There's a way to cure it after you've full on contracted it but it's a pain in the ass; which is why I never let it get that far
It is a pain. It works by moving you through stages, stage 1 everyone will talk to you and tell you that you look sick. Stage 4 means everyone attacks you on sight. You have to feed and it brings you back to stage 1. I got cured, it was annoying, my alternative however was doing several things again (didn't realise I'd contracted it, missed the notification!).
As to what it does: Resists cold, extra damage from fire, gives some sneak related abilities, makes you weak during the daytime. At least it doesn't kill you during the daytime like it did in Oblivion.

wow i hated how it would kill you in Oblivion. I had no idea what it was, what side effects were and all of a sudden i walk out of a store and i'im just dying.. i also couldn't figure out why it was happening. I had to restart the game it sucked.
I'm just going to introduce myself (my 360 persona at least haha):
Johnnyontehspot (the was taken )
I'm currently playing Dark Souls a TON, currently at level 72, and would be happy to help anyone out if you're within my SL range. I also need to finish Dead Island at some point, that game stinks without friends.

I think that is why they changed it for this game. It pretty much ruined Oblivion if you caught it but in Skyrim, while it changes the game a bit, you can use it to your advantage (at least somewhat).
I actually used becoming a werewolf to cure being a vampire. Also I think you're immune to becoming a vampire when you become a werewolf. There's also a few other bonuses to being a werewolf the only downside is you can't get fully rested, or sleep bonus.

Yeah i thought that people kept saying i looked sick because i was a werewolf, but i could be wrong.
I wish there was a mod for oblivion and in the future skyrim to put the game in a more futuristic environment. I think it would be cool to combine elder scroll and fallout. Elderscroll's leveling system is so much better than fallout's and the environment of fallout is kind of bleh.
I just figured out how to learn shouts in this game.
I have been finding words of power all throughout the game and was like WTF why can't I use them? Finally realized you have to go through the menu and actually "learn" them by using a dragon soul.
I hit my first major bug in Skyrim the other day, a companions quest which always crashes. It means I can't finish the questline with this character. I'll probably play the rest of the game and then make a new character to blitz my way through the companion's questline. That or maybe by the time I do the other things I want to in the game a patch will come out and solve all my troubles.
GF got me Skyrim yesterday night for my birthday. Started playing at midnight, told myself I wouldn't play for more than an hour because I needed to wake up early today. Mistake. Didn't stop playingn until about 2:30. Made a Bosmer who'll I'll be turning into a sneak archer/illusionists. I was excited when I saw all the smithing equipment, thinking I could make my own arrows. Guess not.
I don't have much time to play having a 2 year old and all but for what it's worth I just picked up Dead Island and Uncharted 2 on PS3. Mostly playing NHL though.

Here's hoping.
I hear that if you wait 30 in-game days the caves/dungeons etc get reset so maybe that will fix your problem. If you have a save file BEFORE you enter that building where it's giving you problems you can try doing that. It's always good to save before you start something because **** like this happens all the time

Arrows are a plenty throughout the game. Around 1/3 of humans have arrows so you will always have steel or iron arrows. You will probably have to pay for the best arrows.
Just wondering why you are going for illusion. I am also doing a sneak archer but i just can't find a good use of illusion. The only good thing with illusion (to me) is invisibility and MAYBE muffle, but you can get shoes that muffle your movement and invisibility is kind of tricky. I certainly don't want to tell you how to play, but i would suggest going for destruction or conjuration. I am doing destruction, and getting my freezing skills to the highest so when i enchant my bow, my ice attacks are so much higher. I have 100 archer and 100 enchantment (let's me have 2 enchantments on my bow) and a high sneak (60+ with 3x sneak damage on bow). Right now i do about 80damage on a single shot WITHOUT enchantment bonuses or sneak attack. Basically i can kill anything with 1-3 shots.
Anyways i got my archer and enchantment to 100 and now i am working on sneak and destruction to 100.
With Archery perks, one of my favorites is stagger an opponent 50% of the time. Talk to the dragon at the top of the tallest mountain (paarthunax or whatever) and you can meditate on one of 3 words, one of them will give you 25% more chance to stagger. That will give you 75% change of stagger, plus you add on the enchantment to paralyse, includ the archer 100 perk for chance of paralyse and NOW i am working on destruction's 60 perk to make it so when you hit someone with a ice spell it has a chance to paralyse. Pretty soon most of my shots will stop an enemy in it's tracks or just drop them to the ground.
edit: one last skyrim tip, i lvled 2 skills to 100 and i'm lvl 37. I tried running around increasing my destruction at lvl 37 and it is very hard. the lower level destruction spells could do little to no damage to some enemies, so you may want to save before you start fighting. Or go find newb bandit's or animals.

Damn. Archery sounds sweet. I rarely ever use it. I used to use it only on giants when I would come across them, but now I am powerful enough with two-handed and have some sick Daedric Armor so I can kill them pretty easily. I think I am going to start going for archery though. My smithing is at 98 and one and two-handed are pretty high, along with heavy armor, so I am basically just a bad ass dude running around with Daedric Armor and Daedric weapons. One thing I can't figure out is where to get Daedric Arrows. I have an enchanted Daedric Bow, and unless I am just not paying attention and never looked for it at a forge, I can't seem to find any for sale or laying around. I am assuming they exist because I have pretty much every other kind of arrow I've ever seen.

Yeah archery is awesome :-D When i started playing elder scroll on Oblivion i always played melee with some destruction and conjuration, and when i tried archery it was just so difficult and early on the attacks do nothing. Plus you should use light armor so you are easily killed which can be frustrating. Archery is really hard on console for me too, i think it's the best on pc.
With all archery and sneak perks, you are close to impossible to find while sneaking and can kill in one shot and can kill from anywhere. Dragons can be killed in like 5-10 shots. I'll let you know when i kill one in under 4 shots

Why light armor with archery? Sneaking purposes? I usually just go two-handed with dragons and use Ice Spike or Firebolt when they take off.

Yeah, sneaking purposes. With heavy armor when you sneak you can hear your armor jingling around and enemies find you much easier. There may be a sneak perk to remove heavy armor noise though, but yeah it's a lot easier to sneak with light armor. Thieves guild gives you great armor with cool perks.
There are so many different ways of playing, anything can work. That's why i love the game, you create a strategy in your head and try to execute it in game. There are 1000's of ways to play. You could play as a naked khajiit using just your claws and you could have fun.

Yeah this is seriously the best game I've ever played, I think. Every time I play I wind up doing something completely different than what I set out to do. Yesterday I wanted nothing more than to advance the main quest a little, but killed a giant and came across the Beacon thing in a chest after I killed him and wound up doing some Daedric quest. Then I bought a house in Riften. Long story short, played for like two and a half hours and didn't do anything relating to the main quest.

I just started, so I haven't really gotten too deep into magic yet, but is there anyway to cast a spell while wielding your bow? Kinda annoying I have to switch to a sword or dagger every time I want to cast something.

No, you can't That is the main reason it is so often overlooked, you can't use magic while using archery and you have to go to the menu to use magic.
But, what i like to do, is you can equip magic to your bow with enchantments. So you can put fire damage on your bow so when an arrow hits it does say 30 fire damage and burns the target, on top of the arrow damage. The higher your destruction skills and enchantment skills, the higher the number will be when you enchant the weapon (example when you enchant fire damage, it can be as low as lets say 10 damage or really high like 50 additional damage.)
when you get to 100 in enchantment you can put 2 enchantments on each item, so it's like you are attacking with your bow + 2 magic spells. I think it's potentially the most powerful way to attack.
i just finished the imperial quests, killing the stormcloak leader in a pretty easy battle to take over the city. Anyways i was disappointed with the speech dialogue after you kill the leader. The imperial king at dragonreach does NOT acknowledge you killing the other king, i couldn't believe it. I thought he would congratulate me, or give me something.. nope. Pretty stupid. Oh well, i guess some games are just so huge and they overlook some things.
Also i have been leveling my destruction, finally up to 60, and the game can be super easy playing as mage. What i like about playing as a sneak archer is it slows the game down sooooo much. What i like about games is a high replay value, and a long play through. When you play as a sneak character you usually spend a lot more time thinking about your attacks, moving around and finding the perfect place to enter and attack from, attacking and then running away. You could battle one person for 5-10 minutes if you want. Such a fun game :-D
