No shock there. I hope he gets picked up and does well. I'm not a big fan of how he got used here.

You've got to think somebody claims him at his current price.

If he doesn't get claimed, I think he will, but if he doesn't, I think he can have a good career in the SEL, or SM-Liiga. He's a good player, but I don't know if he can hack it in the NHL.

He was screwed here from the beginning. Didn't have a chance.

Prediction:

1) Islanders claim him
2) O'Sullivan scores .5PPG for the rest of the season and goes -20 in the process.
3) 'Canes fans cry about O'Sullivan
4) Islanders don't give O'Sullivan a qualifying offer
5) O'Sullivan signs in KHL

Too bad, I was pulling for the guy but I guess it just wasn't in the cards. Still don't like how we used him (or didnt..) but it is what it is.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if a team like the Islanders snagged him. If not, ending up in Charlotte won't be too shocking, though there may be a team out there who takes a chance on him at the price he is on. For a lot of teams the question will be, why not? I hope if he does end up elsewhere, and I am hoping he does, he does well.

I hope someone picks him up and he lights us up every game we play against him.

Can't wait for the "poor practice performer" brigade to show up in this thread.

Unless they plan to call someone else up, why waive him at all?

Because Tlusty would be a scratch if he wasn't waived.

Failed experiment in somebody's eyes. Time to cut bait and save a few dollars.

This, we shouldn't have even signed him... In my opinion it was ridiculous from day 1... He should have gotten 3-4 games on a non 4th line to see if he could play for us

Eh, I don't see the harm in keeping him for his current price as the healthy scratch. Though, I guess with Charlotte so close there really is no reason to have a healthy scratch.

The kid has skills. At one point he was everybody's favorite player while Marc Crawford was still coaching the Kings so it's kind of sad to see him spiral down.

Hopefully it all works out for him.

This sounds bad, but I'd rather have POS on the team than Sammy...

I dont like how he was used here either, but some of you on here pretend like he POS didnt have anything to do with the limited minutes and being waived. This has been a guy with the bad work ethic tag during previous stops. And we all know that bad work ethic is tolerated here very well despite having a good skill set. We complain about it all the time, we all know that Mo and JR will play a hard worker over a skill guy 7 days a week and twice on sundays.....even if the skill guy would allow the Canes to score more.

I just don't think he got the same chance that other castoffs like Jokinen and Samsonov got.

Jokinen and Samsonov were also on 1-way contracts and established themselves with this team. Of course the staff is going to give them Top 9 minutes. And did we forget that Jokinen and Samsonov also found themselves on the 4th line for a few games. So its not like they were giving star treatment either. The difference is that both Jokinen and Samsonov worked themselves off the 4th line and gave the coaches a reason to put them back in the top 9.

Quite frankly, I don't see the difference between O'Sullivan and Tlusty as I think neither one has shown anything. But the one-way Tlusty has pretty much saved his butt.

I would have liked to see O'Sullivan in a top 9 role, but he didn't show me anything that I would take someone out to put him there. Yes, Dwyer and LaRose are not your protypical Top 9 players, but they atleast hustle and put forth the effort. I didn't see that from O'Sullivan. Even when Jokinen and Samsonov were on the 4th, they created stuff, not O'Sullivan. He just didn't show me anything to warrant that he should replace someone else who was putting in the work.

I've seen just as much from POS on the 4th line than anyone else we've put there. What do you want him to do with 8 minutes or less sporadically throughout the game? Kind of hard to get into any sort of rhythm. We never gave him a legit shot here. If you want to delude yourself into thinking otherwise than feel free.

Other than Tlusty's one-way, he's also been Maurice's pet for a while. It's the whole reason we traded for him. Probably the main reason why he's staying and POS hits the waivers.

That being said, O'Sullivan's not completely faultless for this turn of events. His play during the game is lacking, at best. And yes, he was playing 4th line minutes, but that shouldn't stop him from being noticeable in the time he is given. Kostopolos and Moto played the 4th line and they were/are good for a noticeable shift a game. O'Sullivan, for all the talk about his skillset, never showed that skillset on the ice.

Even playing out of your comfort zone, you should show something productive.
