I'm assuming all this as well - I was just surprised it hadn't been brought in here yet. I'm impressed. And disappointed in myself.

I'll admit it occurred to me, and I was surprised with the scratch at well.

Umberger said something about his attitude last year, and I wonder if he'd be dealt because of his off-ice attitude.

I'm not sure what's going to happen, and I'm bad at predicting trades. But I think everyone pretty much knows something is going to have to happen. Wilson has played to many games to get sent back down to the AHL without passing through waivers, and he'd probably be picked up.

When Juice and Ethan comes back we just have too many players. Someone's going to have to be traded for something, and it seems the biggest problem we have is in the top six, because we have a set first line, a set third line, (Ethan-Samy-RJ), and two players on our top line that aren't suitable for the fourth line. (Filatov, Vermette, out of the second line of Filatov, Vermette and Dorsett (once Ethan comes back)). I wouldn't be surprised if Dorse is the one on the outs. He's signed to a good contract, but with the logjam of forwards, doesn't really fit. I would say it's either him or Clark in a minor trade. Though Clark might be able to get us something decent. Unlike a lot of people, I'm not a huge fan of Dorse, and Clark seems more suited for the second line at the moment, or the bottom six. When he was playing on the fourth line was when Wilson and him were getting all of our scoring.

I've been told by a reliable source that the Senators are scouting for a new mascot and were told we might have an extra.

I'll trade Huselius to Ottawa for Patrick Wiercioch and a 2nd or for Jared Cowen straight up.
I'd also consider Jared Cowen and a 5th.

We're in the minority, but I agree with you. Cowen will be a stud, and Wiercioch is pretty solid as well.
If not for that I'd try to get a 1st out of someone, there are teams that throw them away like candy, and we could always use the cheap talent.

Yea I'd give them Juice for a guy like Wiercioch. Maybe even trade him for Michalek.

Your fellow CBJ fans said you have too many D in the minors. Why would you want another?

Weircioch would have no place to play here, folks. We have twelve minor-league defensemen. There Just Ain't No Room.

Cowen's still in juniors so we could theoretically take him... but I doubt Ottawa would want to send him.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Well, we don't have room for a guy like Lee but we could make room for a guy like Cowen by incorporating a minor league defenseman into the trade or making a secondary trade.

Or by giving our ECHL team some lovin'.

There's two problems with that, though.
1) It unbalances the trade, and
2) We really don't know what we've got in those twelve guys 'cause so many of 'em are new. So it's difficult to judge value appropriately.

And I don't think we have an ECHL team, but last I checked Delisle is playing in Fort Wayne.

Yes and think about what $4.5 million can buy you at the trade deadline. I also really like that prospect at center, though.

Jared Cowen

*cue "Heavenly" tone*

I don't think we could pry Cowen away from the Sens right now ... not unless we're sending back Filatov or Johansen, and I don't think that's a smart move by Howsen ... we simply need to let those guys develop more to get more of a feel on them.

I do not understand we have excelent young prospects but they are still young and must grow. And we would trade him? Our mistake was that we did not build a team. Do not repeat old mistakes.

Anything more on the Sens scouting us? I read on Spector http://spectorshockey.net/2010/11/su...ember-28-2010/

that we might be looking at Chris Campoli. Wonder who would be on the return side Wilson, Mckenzie?

The MO fits; 1 year contract possible PP quarterback...

a young mobile defenceman who's signed for a cap hit of $633k for this season as well as next year. According to his scouting report from Sportsnet, he's a very fast and very mobile defenceman who could eventually become a good powerplay quarterback. He's not an elite puck-moving defenceman, but he could very well help the Senators' in building a more effective defensive unit. This season, he's scored 6 goals and 11 assists in 51 games, and has 83P (20G, 63A) in 228 career games with the Islanders.

This season he has 5 points in 24 games. Last season he had a whopping 18 points in 67 games.

If he is the target, which I don't doubt, then it's more Filene's Basement shopping, hoping a guy the Islanders and Sens don't want is the Jackets' answer to their prayers.

Don't get my hopes up, please? Won't happen because he's a freshly signed UFA and those rarely get dealt 2 months into the deal, makes organizations look bad.
