For anybody looking for a wheel, there's the Driving Force GT on Amazon on sale for $100 right now.

+1, IMO the G27 really makes the game. the nascar challenges made me poop my pants. you cant actually feel the speed and power of the cars. some races are really intense with the wheel setup. not to mention rowing gears in the comfort of your home is awesome.

Soooo satisfying once you nail it though, isn't it!?

The special events are the best part of the game me thinks.

In honour of Black Friday, is there somewhere I can score a G27 for a decent price?

Or should I just go with a DFGT? I really like the aspect of G27 having a clutch and a 6spd tranny for realism, but not sure if these (and other features?) are worth twice+ the price..

In Canada (our dollars are the same) it's listed at 350-400 in a lot of places

Honestly I could live with paying 300$ for it but what I can't live with is if the thing stops working within a couple years. If you spend 300$ on a console expecting it to last years (lol none of them do it seems) then you'd have similar expectations for a wheel. Problem is I just don't see a wheel being used heavily reaching the 3 year mark. A lot of people with the G25/G27 had issues much sooner. Could be they mistreat their stuff or got lemons but I'm really paranoid with regard to it's dependability.

If even a year down the line it bites the dust I'll be livid.

Just finished the Mercedes AMG academy beginner event. Most fun I've had playing a video game in quite some time, and I don't even have a wheel! Serious concentration needed to get round the nurburgring.

I struggled with the first AMG nurburgring. I ended up getting a silver after a while but not sure where I'm going to make up the remainder of the time.

I've been getting silvers for most special events/licenses. I'm finding the game pretty damn difficult. The game gets you frustrated to try to rush things in certain areas and you just can't do that.

Me being a trophy ***** - Anybody know how much money you have to spend on the Loony Tune trophy? The one that says, "Spend an insane amount of money on tuning a car."

I bought a 1969 Corvette Sting Ray and put every upgrade on it. At least it goes 200mph.

Yeah the G27 on amazon is listed at $299.99, driving force GT at about $150.00. And this is Amazon.com, apparently they won't even ship these wheels to Canada.

Just about to post the same thing, good stuff. Didn't like the old car at first but it grew on me

The AMG events are pretty awesome.
Real sense of speed racing through Nurb. Just finished the Intermediate levels with all silvers. Golds will be damn tough. Especially the last one when you have to string together a 7minute full lap! I am nearly 30 seconds off Gold pace lol. No mistakes there boy.

Oh man now I see what you mean about the Top Gear events. I beat the VW bus one on my first try where I actually finished the race with ease, I just didn't have the patience to do that race earlier.

I can't even make it past the first turn with that Lotus though, I always spin out or go off track or something.

I know what you mean, I'm at level 13 with my i-A license and I still can't beat that lotus race.

Some tips for the Lotus Top Gear challenge that helped me beat it, turn on all the driving aids and set the traction control to 5, 6 or 7, make sure you never have to slam the brakes, you can hit the AI cars from the side and lightly without being disqualified, you can hit the striped cones, don't hit the solid red cones(you can go around them though), the tight hairpin turns are pretty much the only chance you have to pass the AI cars(since they seem to brake aggressively and take the turns really slowly) so use that to your advantage.

Without B-spec, is this game not pretty short? It seems like you'd be able to get through the game reasonably quickly.

I was thinking the same thing, are there endurance races later in the game? I miss those 2-3 hour races.

Wow, I was thinking the exact opposite. LOTS of replay value here.

Anyone know the highest "level" attainable? I'm at 16, but didn't get the chance to play much this wknd...

There is an Endurance series that you can unlock later on. Also I believe the max driver level is 40.

Any suggestions on what car I should buy? I'm level 15 with all the licences, $825K and I need something for the GT World Championship. Also looking for my first rally car but that can wait.
