The U.S. has a similar issue with Leddy, Palmieri, D'Amigo, and Morin. Obviously Fowler will not be released by Anaheim.

To me Quinton Howden should be a lock. He can play both PP and PK. He's a great big skater and plays hard both ends of the ice. Scouts said before last years draft that he had the game that was the best and most suited to the pro game. Keeping him off the team would be a huge mistake by team Canada.

Wilson should be lined up with Hishon, maybe with Connolly for the top line?

Gudbranson should also be a lock.

From a Panthers perspective.

I hope both Courturier and RNH makes the team, I'm so looking forward to this tournament. Even though my country will get smashed (is playing in the hardest group by far), but look forward to see Olden and the rest compete against the best young players in the world.

I'm going to cheer for the Canadian team of course, but it'll be the first time in a while that there might be no Kings prospects on the team
Head games from Cameron. Trying to mess with Toffoli's confidence for the rest of the season, as it's quite possible Ottawa and Mississauga meet in the playoffs.

If this was a different coach, Toffoli would be there.

I'm 99% sure Burke will let D'Amigo play.

I hope he does.

I think that's the biggest surprise that Toffoli isn't invited.

Sad that politics might be the reason.

If anything i think it will make Toffoli more motivated. It happened to Couture 2 years ago when he was snubbed, he turned it onto another level.

The 67's don't seem to get alot of respect from Hockey Canada in recent years.

Toffoli, Prince, and Martindale play together on a line-correct? Does Toffoli benefit from his linemates to such an extent that Team Canada could view him as a one-trick pony? I'm not saying that to be true-just a thought.

Really? I pretty sure Pickard and Roy have been the two frontrunners for a while.

Exactly. Elliott is a great player, but many people still think Barrie is miles behind him because where they were drafted. (2nd round compared to 4th round)

Yes he does play on the big line in Ottawa. Toffoli isn't a 1 trick pony though. He kills penalties, plays on the PP.

And this kid scores goals. Put him anywhere in the offensive zone and he can find a way to get that puck in the net.

Barrie will have to deal with being under six feet tall his entire career... if it weren't for that he'd be an absolute lock. His being healthy is a tremendous reason for Kelowna's 10-1 November.
I hope he makes it, I love having a Rocket to cheer for. (And his being an Avs prospect is good too)

I am kind of surprised that Canada didn't take a longer look at Denver Goalie Sam Brittain, who is leading the WCHA in goaltending as a freshman right now (an is among the top netminders in the whole NCAA. The Florida 2010 fourth rounder was also really impressive at the Draft combine. He has a 1.95 GAA and a .935 saves percentage playing against a lot of older guys, where he's gone 9-3-2, and won his last 6 straight games fo the hottest team in college hockey right now. Having seem this guy play, he has tremendous poise, and is a hulking 6-3, 215...

A 3/4 line of Vey, Eakin, Howden would bring a huge amount of speed, energy and defensive ability while also contributing offensively. in my western biased opinion of course. I don't think Eakin as a scoring line winger would really be playing to his strengths.

Possible.

From what I have read about Toffoli.

Positives: NHL wrist shot/elite finishing skills, great hockey sense, solid two/way play.
Negatives: Average skating, needs a playmaker, undisciplined penalties.

Screams Dany Heatley.

How does Toffoli playing more games for Ottawa help Mississauga? Looking at the small number of OHL players invited to camp I think it's pretty clear no politics were involved.

Thanks RussianHockey96...

I intend to enjoy the games, win, lose or draw.

My year (personally) has not been that great and I just want Team Canada to win, while I am there, to start my 2011 off right.

Just feel it is a shame that Canada can't send our best when it looks like other countries will.

His skating has improved already from last season, he takes penalties but its not like he's a 100 pim per season guy, he plays with an edge. I also disagree with the "needs a playmaker" remark. This kid can make things happen on his own. For a scorer of course its nice to have a playmaker on your line, but he doesn't NEED one.

Bob MacKenzie just said on the Ottawa Senators pre game show, that its pretty much confirmed that Gormley won't be healthy enough to make the team. He tore his knee cap. He didn't say anything about Team Canada inviting another defenceman to fill his spot though.

Just said on Sportscentre that they will likely be adding someone. Just like they did last year with Cuma. I bet it's Elliott.

And Gormely dislocated his knee cap, not tore.
