How confident are you in the potential netminders?

Goaltending lost it for Canada last year and was a problem the year before.

Canada has not been producing goalies, like we use to, in a long, long time.

Not sure why.

I sure hope they win this year - the Christmas gift I want.

I'm probably pretty far off about it so far but this is quick mock for the team, if Schenns sent back

Couturier - Schenn - Glennie
Howse - Leblanc - Connolly
Ross - Johansen - Kassian
Sheahan - Beck - Ashton
Howden

Ellis - de Haan
Doherty - Gudbranson
Gormley - Cowen
Murphy

Pickard
Simpson
Visentin
Your right...you are way off with this list. If you think Cameron will have 2 OHL forwards on his team, after watching how the dub played in the two subway games...your dreaming.
And, he currently has the best team in the country and up too 4 guys from his team could make this squad. There will no doubt be a st. mikes majors flavor to this team.
Two games in ontario vs the russians...one goal given up, so i don't need to tell you what style they are going to play.
As for the d-men, your pretty close, with the exception of doherty. he was not very good in the two games.

I don't know why, or whats better, thats just what I've always noticed.
In 2009 they went with 8 defenseman, that worked out well.

Golobeuf-Subban
Aulie-Myers
Hickey-Pietrangelo
Ellis - Teubert

Since they couldn't put enough defenders on the ice last year, going with 8 is not a bad idea.

Ross-Johansen-Kassian: more of an energy line, Ross and Johansen have done well with Nino and Kassian is not bad as a stand-in.
Howden-Werek-Sheahan: as a checking line these guys are all very fast and very smart and aware.

De Haan - Elliott:
Olsen-Pysyk:
Gormley-Roussel:
Cowen - Ellis: Three very well-balanced pairings who move the puck well and won't panic, Cowen used on the PK and Ellis on the PP.

Pickard to start every game in nets.
I like it with the exception that there is no way Gudbranson gets left off that blueline. Those 8 would be WAY too soft without him.

For defense, you could see Simon Després and Charles-Olivier Roussel from the QMJHL invited to camp, but both aren't guaranteed to make it.

My team as of now:

Pickard
Roy

Cowen-Ellis
de Haan-Olsen
Gudbranson-Gormley
Roussel

Schwartz-Schenn-Connoly
Coturier-Hishon-Toffoli
Ross-Johansen-Leblanc
Eakin-Czikas-Kassian

The battle for the 13th forward probably comes down to elite skill(Nugent-Hopkins) vs Size (Curtis Hamilton). Vey???

It hurts having so many skilled guys in the NHL, but this looks like a true team that has all the pieces.

Feel free to tear me a new one.

Question: What are the odds of a not getting invited to the summer camp, but then gets a tryout in november and lands a spot on team canada?

Gotta think that RNH will get an invite, although I doubt he makes the roster, same goes for Murphy.

(post 278 or so and up)

Chances aren't good. Eakin came close last year. Two years ago, Ellis, Sonne, Esposito, and Kane (as a replacement) did it.

I'm seeing waaaaaaayy too much love for Hishon on these projections, and no love whatsoever for the likes of Byron Froese(Red Deer) and Linden Vey(Medicine Hat). Froese and Vey can fill bottom six roles perfectly, and I also think most of you are off base if you think Hishon can fulfill a top six role on the international stage.

Connolly - Schenn - Glennie
Couturier - Hishon - Wilson
Toffoli - Schwartz - Eakin
Ross - Johansen - Rattie

Roll all four lines equel icetime, give the top line a bit more than the others though. Chemistry FTW

Do we know If Schenn will be released to play?

I'm hoping he does, just haven't seen anything official.

Hishon has the best PPG in the CHL, maybe he doesn't have to be able to play a bottom six role because he's a good enough scorer to make it in a scoring role? Crazy thought I know, it's giving you difficulties to wrap your head around it.

My weak attempt at a line up:
Connolly - Schenn - Couturier
Wilson - Hishon - Toffoli
Eakin - Cizikas - Vey
Ashton - Holland - Kassian
Schwartz

Cowen - Ellis
Gudbransson - de Haan
Olsen - Gormley
Murphy (one can hope)

Roy
Pickard

Ya because Hishon's play at the U17 or U18 didn't show that he can play a scoring line role on the international level.

Ah, touche my friend. I had forgotten about that. To attribute that to winning the gold medal I think is a stretch, but it is proof that we have won with that system.

Cool, we will see what format they go with I guess in mid December!

Won't do a team projection til I see an invite list, but I will say that a player like Linden Vey out of Medicine Hat will have a very very good chance of playing a big role as a grinder on this team.

I also think that Stefan Elliott is definitely going to be invited to camp.

And LOL at someone including Ty Rattie on their final team list.

Not many 17 year old's make the team....
