Howard starts tonight. Ozzy Tomorrow

Per the Wings official twitter.

Quote:
Jimmy Howard will get the start in goal on Friday, while Chris Osgood gets the nod on Saturday.

Howard deserves the rest.

But with Ozzy coming off an injury and not playing his well to begin with before the injury it makes tonights game that much more important.

fully expecting a loss tomorrow with the back to back and Osgood returning from an injury

but yeah Howard definitely needs some games off here and there isn't tonight like his 13th start in a row or something?

I would've rather seen Ozzie plays the Ducks...putting him against the Kings is a tough way to come back. I guess they want to throw him into the fire and hide the water bucket.

maybe they aren't very confident in Osgood his first game back after the injury either and want to make sure we get at least one win in this back to back by playing our better goalie against the worse team?

Anaheim's offense is better than LA's at the moment IMO.

I paid a lot of money for my tickets on Saturday. Osgood better not ruin it for us. Im expecting Osgood to do his typical thing, where he lets in the first goal within the first few shifts of the game, giving us a -1 Handicap that teams need against us

this seems to have become quite the norm for babcock. puting osgood in against the best teams when he hasn't played for months at a time

Granted it's close, but Anaheim has a better record and more goals for. This isn't the same Anaheim team we saw back in October and same goes for Los Angeles who has lost 7 out of their last 10 and only scored 4 goals in their last 4 games.

LA's nosedived since their schedule picked up a bit.

Ok, but why is Babcock playing Osgood against the better team?

That is what I thought as well. I think we can beat the Ducks with Ozzie in net, while the Kings are tougher to beat with Ozzie in net.

Osgood should get the start. It's Ozzy Osbourne's birthday, that's got to be good luck right?

I think if we split these next 2 games and get 4 out of 6 points on the trip, then Babcock would be happy. Tonight is our best chance to win b/c we have had several days off and we've been in California for a few days. Might as well go with your best goalie and increase your chances of winning.

Playing back to back, especially considering that we are an older team, is very tough and tomorrow night is a game that we are likely to lose unless we get some breaks to go our way. Might as well let that game be the one where we rest Howard and roll the dice with Osgood and see what happens.

It may not work out b/c anything can happen in 1 game, but I think the move makes sense. As long as we get 2 out of 4 points, then I'd be content with that.

This should be interesting. The LA Kings winners of only 2 of their past 9 games going against Chris Osgood who prays for a GAA of only 2.90. What gives first?

Also LA has a whopping 7 goals scored in their last 5 games playing @Ottawa, @Montreal, vs. Chicago, @Anaheim, and vs. Florida. Yikes.

sounds like LA is running into osgood at the perfect time. this could be used as a starting point for the kings to turn their season around but let's hope not

This is more like giving the starter some well deserved rest than running the backup because he needs games. In Wings position there is no need to overplay Howard. Personally I don't really care what teams Ozzy play, a struggling LA is kind of an average opponent anyway. Key for him is to get a good start and keep the rubber away for the first 10 minutes.
