Is it supposed to be:
Meh-cay-lick
or
Meh-call-ick

Basically, long A or short A?

No big deal, I prefer the "Tal-butt" version anyway.
In Quebec, it's almost ALWAYS Tal-BUTT. But in France I'm sure it's almost always Tal-BEAU.

Again, it could be either you-AY or you-ETTE. When Cristobal was here in Mtl, he was you-AY forever and then one year somebody asked him his official pronunciation and he said it's you-ETTE.

Denis Talbot on Musique Plus prononces his name "Tal-BEAU". This is the only one in Quebec that I,ve ever heard use that prononciation though.

Okay, cool.

invictus, I believe it's actually pronounced MEE-chalek, with the A sounding like "uh." I know someone here knows about Czech and Slovak stuff.

The two brothers can't even get it straight between them. I remember one suggesting it was Muh-COLICK and the other suggested it was Muh-HOLICK. This was when Z was with Phoenix and Milan in San Jose.

It's definitely with a silent C in their native tongue.

That would just be "ue", but the "u" is pronounced "ü", like like the "y" in mystic für example.

Oh yeah, I meant french from France. No doubt it might be different in Quebec.(and better in this case I hate it when Errey says "talbo")

That would be "uè(t)" in French Phonetics but it won't help you much.

So, the best way for me to describe it, is to let you check this video out :http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...1610260272446#

the journalist says his name at the 12sec mark and a second time at 15sec
I'm not so sure whether you pronounce the "t" or not(he does in the video), I assume both are correct.

Lol at Letang for englicizing his name. And Talbot does prononce to the T.

It's definitely with a silent C in their native tongue.
Is the C silent or is it a guttural "ch" sound?

The C isn't silent, you phlegm through it, like with the German "ch". Mi-CALL-ick would be the best pronunciation to use, it's the most accurate. Czech doesn't have any silent letters, most European languages don't.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Not silent, per se. Thanks for the correction.

Old story but needs to be shared:

When I was in Atlanta in April for the Cooke KO game it was between periods and I walked by Steigy and Lange talking. I heard Steigy say, "I said, 'At the end of the year Afinogenov is a UFA' and Bobby said, 'UFA?! More like a UFO!'" and they both laughed.

Nice to see that Steigy gets as much puzzlement from Errey as we do.

Also caught Steigy talking to one of the Thrashers people and the Thrashers person says, "Oh, you mean she has a butter face?" Christ did I want to hear the rest of that conversation.
