Carolina frees up a contract spot, don't know anything about either Matt Kennedy or Stefan Chaput

The Ducks must have really disliked their AHL team. Complete overhaul this week.

Most likely. He wasn't playing too good before that either.

So, in the last week, or so.

Carolina has
Traded Anton Babchuk and Tom Kostopoulos for Brett Sutter and Ian White
Waived Sutter
Claimed Troy Bodie off of waivers
Waived Patrick O'Sullivan, lost him to Minnesota
Traded Kennedy and Chaput to Anaheim for Carter
In Total: 5 Transactions, involving 10 players.

In most weeks, that would be the most, but then we have Anaheim.

The Ducks waived Troy Bodie, lost him to Carolina.
Waived Josh Green and Ryan Carter
Traded Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson for Patrick Maroon and David Laliberte
Traded Stu Bickel for Nigel Williams
Traded Carter for Kennedy and Chaput

In Total 6 transactions invovling 11 players (Carter twice)!

Really? It seem like the kids they got for Carter, dont even have a legit chance of ever cracking an NHL lineup.

Neither kid will ever be in the NHL for more than short call ups... We were in desperate need of a center that can win 50-54% of his faceoffs... That is why he is here

Kennedy has a shot down the line but it's going to be as a 4th liner if he does make it.

Chaput though is a total loss from what he could have been. Started his career nicely but for whatever reason the kid had work ethic issues. Might make a Keith Aucoin type eventually but I doubt he even gets that good.

So in the last few days the Ducks have traded for Maroon, Williams, and Chaput - all AHL'ers who apparently have work ethic issues according to their respective fan bases. Well time to whip 'em in shape I guess..

Part of the basis for Columbus and Syracuse parting ways was that Syracuse was really annoyed that we didn't make minor-league trades to benefit them more often. (The Clay Wilson for Jason Williams trade, in particular, despite it being a major contributor to our sole playoff appearance, pissed off a lot of people over there.) Anaheim appears to be trying to nip that in the bud early.

Whether or not it actually does anything useful there, of course, has yet to be seen.

What can ducks fans tell us about Carter? We know he's decent at faceoffs, is there any other useful information can you share?

Not very smart, has talent, a decent wrist shot. Shouldn't be anything other than a fourth line center, but a solid one at that.

So does this mean Matsumoto's back to Charlotte?

Bodie and Carter and re-united as Hurricanes. I thought the purpose of waiving O'Sullivan was to get rid of a forward on the Hurricanes roster, yet they trade for another one right after without shipping one out.

Correct, but if I understand it correctly, Matsumoto is on a 2-way contract, so he can go straight back down, while POS was on a 1-way, so he had to clear waivers to go back down, either way. So now they got rid of both and have NO one riding the press box. Tlusty-Carter-Bodie will be a good 4th line, possibly the best we have had since the Adams-Adams-whoever was there with them 4th line we had a few years back (05-06 i think).
