Thanks for the link to that blog about the German team!

I posted these in the Caps section a bit ago, but I thought some might want to read this about Grubauer and see his comments about the WJC:

Article after Grubauer's shutout in last game with Kingston before WJCs

Grubauer comment about WJCs from earlier in December

"I am playing my last year and we want to have a great tournament to stay in the A pool," Grubauer said.

But I am not a big believer of QMJHL as far as a developer of talent. I view it as a lesser league then CHL and WHL and also think US development is better as well

Hopefully Hofflin continues to improve

Well, only very few players drafted in the later rounds make the NHL so
Höfflin's chances are not really that big but there's no harm in hoping for
a miracle.

I wouldn't say he needs a miracle. I saw Hofflin play during the NHL rookie tournament and he did stand out at times among Hawks prospects. He looks to have good wheels and a decent shot, he's just not a huge guy. I think that he will sign an ELC when he's done junior and he could really go either way from there. He could become a Felix Schutz type of player or a Marco Sturm so you never really know. I'd say he has a decent shot at one day playing in the NHL.

0:0 after the first. That's all I know about that game.

Germany couldn't hold their 3-1 lead

This tournament seems like it's going to be closer than other years though, with the Czechs beating the US, and Canada looking weaker than usual any of the top 4 teams in that pool could win the pool or go to the relegation side. While the US losing to the Czechs and Finland playing well against Canada could be a tough fight for the top spot in that pool, while Slovakia, the swiss, and germany seem pretty even as well. Really looking forward to the tournament this year
