Only one big mistake last night with the Wheeler goal, then we looked kind of bad in the second period but that was the team in general. We have definitely stepped it up.

.....Or moving the point totals up significantly. Up until this season, this team thought Defence was the thing that kept de dog in de yard.

That's really what I was getting at. We're playing one of the better teams in the west, so the team ought to bring its A game.

That big mistake yesterday was just a bad read of the play. You never, ever, put three guys on a man like that when there's a passing lane and an open guy speeding down the other wing.

I'm really hoping that Colorado isn't our bump in the road. With the Pens game right behind them, I really hope they get as many points as they can before that one.

Can't be more proud of their play thus far though!

Cormier needs significant time in Chicago before he's ready. As for Machacek, I'd only like to see him up if it's a callup of a significant amount of time. Otherwise, I think Ross is the better option.

Yeah, I know he has a ways to go before he can be a fully functioning player even beyond getting back into games. I am just very interested in seeing what he can do when he does get to speed.

Agreed on Cormier, but whats wrong with rewarding a young prospect that has put in his time in the AHL in Machecek (age 22)? Even if it is just a brief look.

we know what Ross(28) is, a classic NHL/AHL tweener for life, his size and skill level just dont translate to the NHL game.

Eager-Antro-Machecek..i'd like to see it over Eager-Ross-Antro.

1. I'll admit to being a homer with Ross. He's from about an hour and a half north of me, and I'd like to see an Alabama boy playing for the Thrashers.

2. I think Machacek will get a roster spot with the big club either later this season, or at the start of next season. I just feel like a short stint would be counterproductive. If, for example, Ben Eager got hurt and we needed to fill his spot for a while, Machacek would be the perfect choice. In this instance, it looks like the potential is replacing Burmistrov for a few games. Yeah, you could move Antro to center, but he's doing so well back on wing. Bring in someone who actually IS a center, like Ross.

"The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Matt Hunwick from the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenseman Colby Cohen."

Just for info on the Thrashers?

Well there's your GDT title.

Actually, I'll add to that: Kane-Hunwick 2: Electric Boogaloo

holy Crap! Love your Avatar....That's the best logo! You should send it off to Don Waddell.

I bet Hunwick cried in his pillow last night.

I hope Ramsay can keep the guys grounded. 2 players get 1st and 2nd star for the week. TSN has them 4 in the power rankings. ESPN has them 9 (I think) in the power rankings. Lots of buzz recently about them. I hope it does not get to their head and think they can just show up and beat teams. Need to start the road trip aggressive tomorrow. Jump on them quickly.

What I hope is that the Thrashers change the info on the Monday ticket page. If it's the AJC special, then tix should be free except for the Ticketmonster charge. It will be a damn shame if they take 4 of 6 points and come back home to 10,000 fans.

From what I understand, both Pavelec and Ladd were on NHL Live today. Given the re-cap I received of the interviews, they sound pretty grounded to me. Ladd is nothing but class, completely respectful, and he knows there's a lot of hard work left. Pavelec still refuses to take credit for his successes, pointing out that hockey is a team sport, and he wouldn't have those wins if it weren't for the team in front of him.

I think the team is excited at all the commotion, much like us fans, but I think given Ladd's take on it, they'll temper their emotions and won't let it get too much in their heads.

This.

I've been looking forward to this game since sometime in the third period against Boston....

Yet another thing to look forward to tonight.
