Drury + Krieder for Connolly and a good prospect or roster player?

Is Krieder that untouchable? The Sabres really need a center with his upside.

Hell to the no. Kreider is our best prospect, we're not trading him to get out of a contract.

And Chris is a LW.

Drury really isn't KILLING the Rangers, is he? I really don't see them offloading him and a top prospect like Krieder just to get him off the team when his contract ends next season

What if Slats could make this happen next year:

Dubi Richards Gabby
Drury Stepan Cally
Avery Artem xxx
Boog Boyle Prust

Fedo, Prospal and Frolov are all on one year deals. Christensen can be depth or go to Hartford.

If they can find some scoring from player XXX thats a good looking team on paper.

xxx - could come from the prospects, or via free agency next year

Gagne
Backes
Ryder etc

If you are offering Tinman... yes.

One must overpay for Krieder at this point

Actually the team is playing well without him. Some might argue, better but thats not really fair.

The issue is his cap hit. He has failed to earn that $$$ and most feel the money could be better spent.

7 mill per ? He scored 34 pts last season -- ouch

Its not a superior UFA crop this summer.

Would love xxx to be MZA, but I think hes leaning towards a return to Europe

Figured that was the case. I remembered a few people on the Sabres' board talking about him as a center, and if that was true, I'd absolutely overpay for the guy, but since he's a left wing, there really isn't any incentive for either team.

Most of those points came after Torts used him on the PP, which is his bread&butter.

Drury will improve our special-teams. We'll also start winning some face-offs for a change too.

7M? He's worth about half that. But, using his point-total as some sort of indication regarding his play is going to give you the wrong impression.

Based on what? Do you have a link? Everything he's said seems to be to the contrary and he will work his way into the NHL if he has to.

Doesn't work $$$$ wise with MZA. Doesn't even work w/o MZA. Can't afford Richards without moving Drury.

Agreed...No to Dubi getting traded, although he was the most talked about in the offseason as being the guy to get traded.

Chris Drury is a Center.
I am not sure if he is playing LW on the Rangers but his natural position is Center.

His best seasons were when he was young with the Avalanche, but he was a leader in Buffalo and co-captained the 05-06/06-07 Sabres teams that went to the ECF both seasons.

He's 34 now though and definitely not worth 7 mil a season. Still beloved by many Sabres fans here in Buffalo.

He's not killing the Rangers...The Rangers have a decent team right now. Not great, but fairly well rounded. Offloading Kreider I doubt is realistic as he is among the top prospects. Unless a very serious name was mentioned coming the other way in a package deal.

I believe he meant Krieder was a LW, which makes this a non-starter for either team.

He is a Center, and also has played wing in short term experiments with the Rangers. The other poster was actually talking about Chris Kreider.

For 90% of the NHL I agree. Not for a guy getting paid 7 mill per in a capped NHL.

7 million per you MUST produce more that intangibles

I don't have a link, but it was reported his agent inquired about loaning him back to Europe...

Yeah, so was I. C'mon guys, I've followed the Sabres long enough to know what position Drury plays.

I remembered a few people on the Sabres' boards talking about Krieder as a center, not Drury. Apologies if I didn't clarify that well enough.

yea it was a really dumb trade proposal by me. i meant to edit it after looking up NYR's D situation, and realized they wouldn't have room for those D really anyways, but got lazy and didn't bother.

i keep hearing people bring up Drury's NTC...

has he already stated he won't waive it or something...or do people just assume he loves NY and wouldn't waive it?

it's not an assumption
He's playing for his boyhood team, he and his family love it here, the organization loves him and everyone in the room loves him.
