Gerber was the best available option in his free agency year. There is no way that Hasuck was coming back after that glorious meltdown of his.

He played really well for Switzerland, and against us that season as I recall. He was an acceptable risk. Too bad he **** the bed I guess.

Hasek wanted to come back (for league minimum) and should have been brought back.

And what were you expecting this year? Relative to expectations, 17th best goaltending (0.908) is fine and a significant improvement over last year's 27th (0.900). That is what I mean when I say that goaltending is not a problem - last year we made the playoffs with poor goaltending, and the goalies this year are playing better than needed to make the playoffs again. It is the offense and defense that are not performing up to expectations.

Everyone in the room didn't want him back because they believed he quit on the team.

Can't wait to see if we are going to get Carolina Gerbs or Oklahoma City Gerbs! I'd like to give a The Fuhr-like "easy W" on this one, but I'm not so sure. We'll see. Go Sens Go regardless!

I'll agree. The Offense and D has been a problem. But so has goaltending. Maybe not as much as the others, but it's still a problem nonetheless. That's why we're not in a playoff spot.

You can pick any position and if we improved it, we would probably be a lot better. If we had more skill upfront, we could have 10 more goals. Sure. If we had better D we could have 10 less goals against. Sure. But also if goaltending was better, we could have 10 less goals scored against. All of which are good reasons and all are realistically possible.

I don't think you understand what i'm saying. Goaltending isn't the biggest issue, but it sure as hell can be improved therefore is still an issue nonetheless.

People are just happy because our goaltending has improved. The thing is there's still a lot of improving to do. We're just so used to atrocious goaltending that when we get below average goaltending it seems really good.

Amen. Even if injured, we had a goalie in emery who lead us through the playoffs the previous year, was considered our goalie of the future, and he, that year, led us to the finals. Imagine having hasek at 500k compared to gerber at 3.7 million that year. We could have added another 3 million dollar player.

Gerber, maybe you didn't get goal support at times, but you still let in a lot of weak goals

That's what they just said, the Oilers want to wear their blue jerseys on the eastern swing so the Sens went along with the request.

COMPLETELY inaccurate. I wish Gerber was good. He deserves every bit of respect.
