Dear Glen,

No more floating Russians, please.

Frolov makes Zherdev look like Brett Hull.

I find it hard to believe that the Frolov we see out there is suddenly going to pick it up and start scoring. Yes hes been a consistent 20 goal scorer (or around there) but hes declined in point and goal totals for the past 3 years.

I honestly believe his best years are behind him. Sad to say because hes still so young. I didn't watch him much in the past but it's possible to believe he's lost a step since his youth.

assuming he's here at the end...
torts finally sat him last night, he shouldve been benched weeks ago. If this team wasnt so offensively anemic frolov he wouldve been scratched after any one of the missed wide open nets, pick one any one...

I'm surprised. I thought he was one of the bigger FA steals.

The first half isn't over yet, though. I think he picks it up a bit.

I'm ready to throw in the towel on this guy, he totally hasn't worked out. I'm begining to think he's got the same problem that Nikolai Khabibulin and Sandis Ozolinsh have. If Torts isn't going to play Avery then they should package up he and Frolov and deal them out to someone else. Toronto, Calgary are clubs that have pressure to win and might be willing to do it. Frolov, Avery for Jokinnen's return to NYR?

On the bright side: if Sather can turn Kotalik and Higgins into Prust (and a Jokinen rental), I very much look forward to the return we'll get for Frolov.

indeed. Frolov IMO is a player who needs someone better than him to excel. In LA he was a decent player but didn't really "turn it on" until Kopitar arrived. Cammaleri was also breaking on in Fro's best season. I'm convinced if you put Frolov next to someone like Brad Richards, Sidney Crosby, Joe Thornton, and simplify his game, he will excel. If you aren't asking him to set up plays and think so much, he can be more effective. Fro, get to the slot and get open. If that is the game plan you give him and linemates who can set him up, he can succeed. That just isn't our team. I too look forward to what we can get out of him as a rental to some other team. please please please.

What was going to be a decent signing in October, has turned out to be awful. It's a long season, but at this rate he is just playing himself in to a trade to a contender. Not that anyone would want him right now.
Terrible time to ask?

When would have been a good time?

In preseason the only time he showed up?

I'm starting to think that if Frolov doesn't begin to turn it around by the time Prospal comes back, Sather will look to deal him (and possibly Gilroy) for a decent veteran defenseman. Prospal will simply take Frolov's spot and will hopefully be an improvement.

The question is, who would be willing to take Frolov when they know that there's a chance he'll go back to Russia next year? Are there any playoff calibre teams who need more secondary scoring but also have an abundance of d-men? Or should we assume that if Fro gets traded, it will likely be in exchange for another underachieving player? If so, I'd be for it as long as the returning player's contract expires this summer.

That, or if he picks his game up at some point. The reason I said now as opposed to even 10 games in, is because people are losing their patience with him, and it's starting to boil over.

Honestly, I wish we would give Avery MORE ice time.

Frolov + Gilroy + a pick for a veteran LH d-man, preferably on a good or expiring contract. A solid top four d-man on an expiring contract would be a really good acquisition for this team. It would stabilize our defense, almost making it formidable and with Henrik in net, that's not something to discount.

Up front, I still have my doubts Prospal will be able to return full-time and that he'll be productive if he is able to come back, but if he is indeed healthy and hasn't lost a step when he returns, he should EASILY slot into Frolov's spot. In fact, if Prospal hasn't lost a step, he should be an improvement.

I...I really don't think he's been as bad as people are making it seem. The dude is 6th on the team in points, I mean...I don't know this is a losing battle so I'm not going to fight it. Obviously Torts agrees with the majority of posters here as he's been seeing less and less ice time.

Put him with Arty and Feds or something and let the Russians run wild.

Avery - Stepan - Gaborik
Dubi - Boyle - Cally
Fro - AA - Fed
Boog - EC - Prust

Frolov's been scoring latley. He's got 11 pts as of now. Top 8 on the team. He isn't a reason why we are losing games. The team is playing pretty good right now. Unfortunatley, we lost to the Penguins, but they just got to come out and beat the Islanders Thursday and Friday. Should be 4 free pts.

The problem is that my expectations for him were so much higher than how he's been playing. He's not absolutely terrible, but as of right now he's not deserving of a new contract.

Whatever happened to frolov? Did he sign with the khl?

I haven't heard a thing about him all season...must not be playing well wherever he signed

Can you believe some people here wanted to sign that waste?

How about something like this?

Frolov for Bieksa?

The Rangers get a tough, veteran defenseman who blocks a ton of shots and who I think would fit in very well with the type of game Torts wants to play. The Canucks move one of their MANY defenseman and add some scoring depth for their playoff push.

He Blows. Get him out ASAP.

I imagine Sather will do a Higgins/Kotalik type deal near the deadline (hopefully sooner)...
