Carolina might not offer Weekes the tender offer. The Blues could just sign him as a UFA. Why trade young, cheap, top 3 defenseman for him? It wouldn't make sense. Anyway, I'd rather the Blues get Garon, but I wouldn't even consider parting with Backman or Jackman for him.
I really doubt that Rutherford doesn't qualify Weekes. Losing him for nothing would make absolutely no sense. Don't forget that the guy (JR) waited a complete year to get rid of Irbe. He won't go out and lose a #1 goalie who's atleast top 15 and in his prime for nada, just won't happen.
I understand you are attached to your players. That's all else that needs to be said. We'll see how the situation plays out.
It has nothing to do with being attached to my players and everything to do with not wanting to give up a young defenseman that many feel are better than his counterpart that won the Calder for a goaltender that is not much better than what we already have.

I wouldn't expect much at all in return for Demitra and have never once said they should get anything... which is one of the reasons why I think they should keep him and trade Weight.

Why two seasons?
Perhaps because 2 seasons ago was Osgood's worse of his career?
Pretty convenient for your argument, huh?

Staal is the one one of those that I wouldn't laugh at but I'd still opt for Jackman because a) he's more proven and b) defensemen are more valuable than forwards.
