What would teams offer for Erik Johnson?

Is Johnson considered a very valuable defenseman across the league?

Everything.

I wonder if a deal could be structured around Kaberle and Kadri.

Try Schenn and Kadri.

EJ is an absolute stud and hes almost on Doughty level (not quite).

After the Oilers explaining that Hall (and probably Eberle) are not available, they resond, "shall we wrap the rest up for you?"

Seriously, pretty much anything the Blues want that isn't a franchise player. I'd offer Hemsky, Penner and our 2nd rounder in this draft for EJ and a salary dump forward.

And then I'd ask what else the Blues need.

He's almost on Doughty's level like Tim Thomas is almost a woman. Not at all.

Naah. We'll pass.

I think Erik Johnson is a fine player, though.

You could pull quite a package out of the Avs, I would think. EJ would be a perfect fit.

O'Reilly, Shattenkirk, 1st would be my initial offer. The problem for St. Louis is that you'll never get comparable talent back, just packages of lesser talent. As such packages go, this one is pretty good: blooming 19yo top 6 center that oozes hockey sense and intangibles, a Calder candidate defenseman with top pairing potential, and a mid 1st.

I'd offer Heatley, or to a lesser extent Seto, Clowe, Vlasic, even maybe Couture for EJ.

Josh Bailey, Travis Hamonic, NYI 1st 11.

Yes, I really really really would love to have Erik Johnson on my team.

blues arent going to trade johnson or petro either. thats why they based ther team on defense because defenseman and goaltenders make less money than high scoring forwards GO SHARKS

We all know Burke ain't trading Schenn. I truly think it could be done though. Obviously pieces would have to be added, but Kaberle and Kadri isn't far off in terms of value. Particularly a signed Kaberle. Keep in mind, that's a top defenseman and a bluechip prospect. It's not like I suggested Beauchemin and D'Amigo.

It would take couture + a bunch more, to land him. As much as he would help the sharks, we couldn't realistically give what they would be looking for. If I had to guess, we would be looking at couture, vlasic, and a 1st. Not even sure if that would be enough. EJ has #1 dman potential and the blues are not in a rush to move him.

I'd offer Colborne, Boychuk, Caron, Wheeler, BOS 2011 1st, and a defense prospect - someone like Bartkowski or Alexandrov.

Heatley does them a lot more good than Couture though. They really need a goal scorer, and Heatley is perfect (and producing).

But don't you think they'd just re sign EJ instead of taking on Kaberle's salary?

It might make sense value wise, but not exactly realistically.

Parise.

I've been saying this on our board since we resigned Kovalchuk. We need to add a right handed PMD and EJ is a superstar on the horizon. We already have IK, Parise and Elias on the left side and Tedenby is being "forced" to play on the right side cause of that.

A trade like that would benefit both parties IMO.

I'd love EJ on our blue line. The Blues have enough good defensemen, so they need some scoring. Couture, Clowe and Setoguchi should be enough from the Sharks to pry away Johnson. Blues fans?

Uhm, no. We are not giving away 3 of our top-6 players, that's just insane.

Heatley

Vlasic + Seto/Clowe + 1st

Something like that.

Parise is one of the few wingers I wouldn't be pissed that EJ was traded for but it just creates too big of a hole on the Blues defensive unit. Pietrangelo will certainly hit some bumps in the road over the next few years and without EJ the right side of our d-unit would be utter crap during those times and with a left side that are mostly complementary players the team as a whole would be worse off even if adding a serious scoring threat like Parise. Neither Parise, or EJ can do crap about Halak scoring goals in himself, or Halak and Conklin having some off games recently.

Id agree. Boston wants that top young defenceman now so the Leafs pick and their own with any prospect not named Colborne would be on the table for sure.
