If I was Murray, I'd put the Smyth/Kopitar/Williams line back together ASAP when Sturm is ready to go. Put Sturm with Stoll & Brown. That gives 2 lines of potentially 20+ goals from each player, with Kopitar and maybe Williams the potential of 30+ each.

What the hell.....................

Lombardi lost his mind. A pure panic move.
So we trade for a player who is not able to play and had 2 knee operations ????

Sturm is helping us more when sitting on the Bruins roster.

Why the **** do we help other teams out ??????????????
I hope a pick from Boston is coming our way too or i really start to hate Lombardi.

I am not sure why everyone hates this. It is very low risk/high reward. We are getting a solid two-way player, who is good on the PK and can net 20 goals. Is he past his prime? Maybe but his contract expires after this season and Rich is saying nothing more than future considderations.

Is he a top flight LW... no. But he could possibly fill a hole and if it doesnt work out, we didnt lose anything.

I am shocked at the hate for this trade.

Haha a pure panic move? Classic.

Yeah, a conditional 5th round pick is sure panicking...

are you guys actually surprised that Kurrilino hates this trade? he would be pissed at lombardi even if he got malkin, crosby, or ovechkin for a bag of pucks

I was pointing more in general to the negative nancy's that hate everything Lombardi does.

I love Kurrilino's spunk but his drama sometimes hit's AKAY47 proportions.

LOL...I like this move. You'd think 1st line LW's were just milling around outside DL's office looking for someone to play for based on some responses here. Pretty much no team is looking to unload a player like that at this point in the season, and if they are they want way too much.

LOL my drama?! I, for one, am a big fan of this trade, Sturm will be a solid fit but I just hope he doesn't get slotted on the first line, that might be the biggest mistake for TM to make lol. I just find it funny that we have almost like 20 good penalty killers now.. Handzus, Stoll, Kopitar, Sturm, Ponikarovsky, Lewis and even Dustin Brown at times. Are we ever going to acquire someone who's good on the PP? lol

I would do:

Smyth-Kopi-Williams
Poni-Handzus-Brown
Sturm-Stoll-Simmonds

That's three solid scoring lines with two of them also being shutdown units.

I'd go with these lines as well. When everyone gets healthy we have a damn solid team on paper.

I'm more than happy myself to add Sturm. If healthy he offers so much in areas where we are lacking that it's certainly worth a 2-5th rounder. Also just the stability will go a long way, we'll still have minor line shuffle no doubt but atleast we can kinda set out lines and go with it. We can send Schenn down to develop. Ice the team we intend to ice, dig in and play without distractions, hopefully.

Sturm-Kopitar-Brown
Smyth-Stoll-Williams
Poni-Handzus-Simmonds
Cliff-Richardson-Lewis

Doughty-Mitchell
JJ-Scuderi
Greene-DD/Muzzin

Quick
Bernier

I like it, if we can hang in there in the standings until everyone gets healthy and stay healthy in until the playoffs we'll be fine.

Kurrilino would be just fine with this trade ... had STOLL been going to Boston instead of the conditional pick

Pro rated for GP and TOI Sturm might score more goals than Kovalchuk this year.
