That's a roundabout way to combat the snow and ice, isn't it?

Maybe, but based on the smell in the kitchen while this simmers, a very straightforward way to combat my sinuses.

My girlfriend's brother, who is 32 and lives away from home, still gets an equal amount of presents as her 16 year old sister does.

One or two each from girlfriend/parents/sister so I think about a reasonable adult amount.

I got a good chunk, but mind you mine were $100 of gifts each to mom, dad, stepdad, brother, $200 for girlfriend.....I spent over $1300 on gifts amongst all my family and friends.

My folks probably would've got me more, but they always hold off the five days and give a bit bigger for my birthday (the 30th).

I got some cash, some booze, and some clothes, all of which I could use. My family must've been talking to each other about what to get me though. I let slip that I could use a new Flyers hat (my old one was from like '98 and is really ragged, I'll save that for games and any possible hat trick occasions) and I ended up with 2 hats a Flyers pullover and a knit wool cap.

My brother is a bartender at higherish end restaurants in the city and Voorhees. One day a few months back, I asked him about Rumple Minze, knowing it was one of his favorites.

He gave me a bottle for Christmas. Said he got me the small one for a reason, as well as mentioning most people try it once and say "I'm never doing that again."

That's pretty cool. My family probably stopped giving me significant presents for Xmas/b-day when I was around 15 or so, but that's no issue for me because then it means I don't have to go crazy buying presents unless I have a gf around Christmas which has only happened once or twice.

I'm kind of conflicted on the whole presents thing, but I figure it's a boost for the economy right now, so it's hard to complain.
