LA's new LW will be Sturm

Has connections with DL
Boston needs cap room to sign Kessel and Krejci this summer
Ownership wont increase payroll by 10M which is what this team will need to sign a big UFA and Frolov and JJ to extension.

At draft for a 3rd rd pick and future's or Boyle

Great. Then we can put Constantin Braun on the right side and call them the Maginot Line.

I guess that would make sense because of the whole San Jose connection but it just doesn't do anything for me.

Interesting. I could see this happening. I would still hope we sign a scoring LW as well. So for sh*ts and giggles...

Gaborik-Kopitar-Williams
Frolov-Moller-Purcell
Sturm-Stoll-Brown
Armstrong/Ivanans-Handzus-Simmonds

That's not bad; it would be four lines that would be tough to play against (well, three if you don't count when Ivanans is on the ice).

It depends if he can be the player he was. I don't know why some people don't like him, but he's proven to be a very good role player, who should be able to thrive with the Kings. He's a guy I wish we had with the Flyers, and someone I think Terry Murray may feel is very versatile.

My 8th grade history class taught me about the Maginot line. Looked great on paper.

Problem was, the opposition (Germans) went right around it!!!

Not the kind of line I want on a hockey team

Assuming you are correct, isnt this exactly what we as fans have had enough of? The second tier player, with an injury to recover from? More risk about whether they will or will not perform? Won't this kind of move (as opposed to a Gaborik or Kovalchuk) just make it that much clearer that the internal cap does constrict DL's ability to ice a championship team? Is that really what DL means when he says "it has to be the right fit?"

I'd be all for it, as long as its "in addition to" not "in place of" a Gaborik or like player. But I dont believe that will happen.

I usually don't get myself into the whole line shuffling game but if that was the team, I am pretty sure it should look like this

Gaborik-Kopitar-Frolov
Williams-Stoll-Brown
Sturm-Zeus-Simmonds
(mix and match on 4th line)

I would also like to see Sturm-Stoll-Simmonds. The triple S line

Ack I could totally see this happening. Boy, if we make a signing like that and pass it off as our new offensive threat... He better score 30+ goals that's all I have to say... No wait till next season because he is still healing or getting used to something BS.

I have been harping on Gaborik all season but with the way he has played since coming back I believe he has out priced himself with LA. I can see DL kicking alot of tires and ending up with a plan C like Sturm though. I'm truly hoping that some of our new rookies will help carry the load and that the stars we do have will be able to take it to another level. At this point I will be surprised if we come away with a true difference maker.

So.......... we help out Boston to sign their Stars ??????
And on top we give away Boyle and a pick
+ after that we don't have space for a big UFA and extend Frolov and JJ..........

What exactly is your connection ??? You sell **** to Lombardi and met him on crack ???

What about giving out Offersheets for Kessel and Krejci....
that would put the Bruins into a cap hell.......
and that would mean we can get one of them relative cheap for a couple of 1st rounders...

I would also agree that as long as we can also add another top sniper, Sturm would be a nice fit.

And why on Earth would we help Boston sign their GOOD players, when we should be making a run at one of those two instead?

It was retarded when we PAID for Cloutier to help Vancouver with their cap troubles and it would be even worse in this case because we actually have a shot at these two guys.

For the love of God let's stop dumpster diving. He's played 19 games this season and it's not only been because of injury it's also been because he's lost his game.

And then people will say that Johnson is greedy because he wants 3-4 mil? Well yeah, why not. If broken down reclamation projects are getting that kind of money why should the guys like Cammy, O'Sullivan and Johnson when the time comes? Really? You can't keep telling the kids they're the future and keep bringing crap, paying then, and then expect anyone we've drafted to want to stay. Because what's the benefit for them? Losing? Being made into a villain?

In an uncommon occurrence, I agree with you completely. We need to stop dumpster diving. DL has used all his dumpster diving for free passes. No more projects, no more what-ifs. We should be interested in players ready to play high level hockey right now.

Can't agree with you here. If you take away his non productive year this year, Sturm has averaged 25 goals more or less for the past 8 or 9 seasons. Besides, if we didn't go "dumpster diving", we would have never profited from a guy like Quincey.

You couldn't be more wrong. Only 1 King has averaged more goals per game the last 3 full years and Sturm's numbers this year would have projected to 28 goals again. He's super consistant and, frankly, would be your #2 LW, easily.

Dumpster diving, holy crap.
