Empty Netters

Maybe not thread worthy, but does anyone else feel like the Rangers never score them, but they always give them up?

You must have read my mind; I was going to mention that in the GDT.

Now that I think about it I don't remeber the last time they scored a empty netter.

That's what it is to be a Ranger. Scoring an empty net goal would imply the last minute of the game to be an easy cruise to victory. Since when have the Rangers ever made anything easy? Even the 1994 team had to blow a 3-1 series lead, win by one goal in game 7, and end the game with a faceoff in the defensive zone.

As long as Henke never tries to score one again (the only time he tried it, he immediately gave it away and gave up a goal), I'm okay with just defending the extra man.

I always hated that Messier broke Howe's second place points record on an empty netter.

Teams that score empty net goals play to win. Rangers play not to lose.

Awards:
We have 2 EN goals this season. Tied with a ton of teams for ninth. Middle of the pack. We have allowed 4, which puts us 26th...near the bottom.

Last season we scored 7 (t-13th) and allowed 10 (26th). In 2008-2009 we scored 7 (t-15th), allowed 5 (t-4th). In 2007-2008, we scored 4 (t-27th) and allowed 5 (t-4th).

If there's a trend, it's that we don't score enough ENGs. In terms of giving them up, we're pretty average--though bad under Torts. We're -4 total over the past three seasons and this one.

NHL.com stat page is great.

I was thinking the other night durring the Titsburgh game. Who pulls the goalie with 2 mins left against this team?

I understand the stratagy, but I would think against Crosby, Malkin & Co. you wouldnt go that route. They are just to strong especially when they are on they're game like that night.
