Are those lines up to date? I could have sworn Maurice moved away from the Cole/Samsonov pairing on the top line.

Not that it matters. Today's game is televised, therefore, we'll suck. I believe that's how it works now.

Nice to see we're already several points out of a playoff spot. Ah, the never-ending quest to get back to .500

I really hope there's no rust after not playing since Monday. Ward will once again need to stand on his head; the Avalanche offense is going to have a field day with our gong show of a defense.

If you get the NHL.com catalog in the mail you may have seen this. They have done it twice this year.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we're back to LaRose on the top line and Cole with Skinner and Ruutu

So we can (theoretically) pull off 3 wins in a row and still not move up 1 place in the standings. Or we can lose 3 in a row, and if the teams behind us win those 3 games, the Islanders would be the only team worse than us. Most important game of the season is here.

And as a side note, I thought I mise well add my word I thought I was using correctly only to be wrong. Last night I watched the last period of the Stars/Caps game and didn't know who Woywitka was. I've thought for years it was Roy Witka.

I have no problem being a few games played behind the masses, it's a nice change of pace from "we're tied for 8th, but they've played 3 less games".

There certainly is a CLEAR line from 8th to 9th now... Thank god every SE division team lost last night...

Then you obviously hate hockey.

I expect us to beat the snot out of the Avs though. Their backup Peter Budaj is playing, and we are desperate for a win.

My prediction- someone will have a 4 point night tonight. Favorites are Skinner, Staal or Jokinen. Dark horse is McBain.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't see those tweets from Chip.

The Avs lines are a combination of guesses and speculation from their posters.

Anderson is starting tonight. I was hoping for Budaj.

I'll never forget the last game of the season in 08 against the Panthers when Anderson completely shut the Canes down. A win would've locked up the division and guaranteed the playoffs; instead they lost and Washington ended up taking the division with their last game the very next day. My ears perk up every time I hear about Anderson ever since. Glad he's over in the West these days; hope there's not a repeat of that tonight.

Why do all state lotteries hype tickets as gifts? How does that go? Ooh, you wasted 5 bucks on me. How nice. The odds of my gift actually doing something for me are equivalent to being struck by lightning?

Geez. Just give me the $5 instead.

First period is half over and we still haven't managed to get a shot on goal. However, the Avs have gotten 10. And here I thought we were supposed to come out with some wicked jump tonight...
