A bit? Couturier and Landeskog are top 5 locks, with Couturier going 1st overall if I'm the Islanders, and Armia is a top 10 lock.
Obviously.
I disagree about Armia. He's gained a lot of steam recently, but I don't think calling him a top 10 lock is a great way to describe him.
"A bit of a stretch..." = "Pretty much no chance of happening."
Maybe I'm not up to date with my sayings...but seriously not worth overreacting over. If you misunderstood, you misunderstood. Let me clear it up for you. Unless something changes, those players are out of our reach.
Phantoms signed Brendan Connolly last night. McManus says he is a 3rd year ECHLer 5 foot 7 and 25 years old. He leads his ECHL team in scoring, and was undrafted
That was pretty much the consensus on draft day -- a waste of a 3rd round pick, when those kinds of players are plentiful as hell to pick up as a free agent.
Was just taking a look at the mock drafts. Its interesting how everyone seems to pick a defender for who the Flyers will pick instead of offense. Obviously we arent stronger in one over the other, but found it interesting no one thought we needed young offense.

i would honestly like to know what Shooter saw ion this kid. He did nothing at the junior level. He must have had 1 good game right before the draft is my guess.

I don't know, but I believe he was the first pick our WHL scout got to make.

That's because people don't actually know anything unless they know it.
Pretending doesn't help matters.
That said, last year offense was a MUST in the draft.
This year I'm leaning offense heavy again, but the thought of getting a defenseman is starting to creep in.
The worst thing Holmgren could possibly do is look at JVR, Giroux, Nodl, Wellwood, and Ranford tearing up the WHL and be like, "Okay guys, we're set on offense, go defense."

you take the best player available. Regardless of position. Now i could understand if they want to shy away from a goalie, otherwise it isnt like they have a stud or any sure fire nhl players waiting in the wings on d in the minors or juniors.
I'm not sure if this was posted but Matt Walker will play for the Phantoms tonight.
now i guess he will go the conditioning assignment route. After that is up can they "loan" him and leighton out like they did with Bartulis to get a few more ahl games in? Both would have to be on the active roster i would assume for that to happen.

According to Philly.com:
Quote:
Walker was assigned to Adirondack on Friday to start a conditioning assignment. Friday’s game with the Phantoms in Syracuse is Walker’s first game of the regular season – at any level – since Walker first injured his hip during a preseason fight.
Since Walker has not been on the Flyers’ long-term injury list – and his $1.7 million salary has been counting against the salary cap all season – Walker is eligible for a 14-day conditioning stint instead of being limited to the 6-day or 3 game regiment like Michael Leighton was last weekend.
Leighton, who had surgery on Oct. 11 to repair a herniated disk in his lower back, is also in net for the Phantoms tonight against the Crunch. The NHL approved the Flyers’ request for a rehab extension earlier in the week. Leighton is also scheduled to play another game this weekend for Adirondack – either in Glens Falls, N.Y., on Saturday night or in Hartford, Conn., on Sunday afternoon – before returning to the Flyers. He cannot receive another rehab extension.
Tonight’s Phantoms game is also interesting because it pits former Flyers David Laliberte and Pat Maroon against their former team.
OMG!! PHANTOMS WIN! PHANTOMS WIN! PHANTOMS WIN! (yea I know only their 4th game they won lol)
And best thing is, they beat Laliberte and Maroon
Gustafsson led the team with 1 goal, 4 assists and a +1, in a 5-2 win.
Yeah . . . D men who put up 5 points a game are of no value whatsoever and have no upside whatsoever. Why don't we just set the entire phantoms organization on fire since not one of those players will ever amount to anything but 2nd rate ECHLers and fringe AHL players
Gustafsson is tied for first in the AHL in defense scoring as a rookie. Pretty impressive. I haven't caught a Phantoms game this year yet but I am wondering how his defensive game may or may not translate to the NHL
