Plus/Minus Pens v Jackets

Umm.

+ The whole team.

What else can be said? We absolutely dominated this team. To be more specific, and to point out who really stood out:

+ Kunitz. I really think he's earning his contract now that he's healthy. He really makes the first line work.

+ Sid, obviously. His hand eye coordination is unreal.

+ Letestu, Conner, Kennedy. They just continue to wow me everygame, especially Letestu and Conner. Letestu makes the smart play-that was easily a slap pass to sid. Good to see him get some PP time. Conner is small, but he makes people miss and his talent and skill is obvious. Kennedy is the perfect complement.

+ This team is without Malkin and Staal.

+ The Defense: It's unbelieveable. Not only do we let only 2 shots in the first period, but they score. This honestly could turn into one of the best blue lines in the league. I'd definitely put it up there.

- PK streak ending.

What do the lines even look like when Staal gets back?

Staal needs to slot in on line 2, bumping someone down to 4 and a scratch from line 4.

L3 and L1 need to remain intact until they begin to fail.

Hmm....

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Cooke - Staal - Malkin
Conner - Letestu - Kennedy
Asham - Talbot - Adams

I like. Make it happen.

- Bylsma sitting Crosby with 38 seconds left in the game and a faceoffs infront of Garon. Brutal!

Guys, Bob and Steiggy are terrible commentators.

But seriously, they're pure comedic gold.

Not much to complain about here. Great performance all-around. And to think we did it without Geno (even though he's been a bit rubbish lately) and Staal.

No, no, no, no.....

I'm hoping for something like this

Kunitz-Crosby-Malkin
Cooke-Staal-Dupuis
Conner-Letestu-Kennedy
Asham-Talbot-Rupp/Adams

The only reason Malkin should touch the ice as a winger is if its to play with Sid. No more of this 2nd line winger bull crap. If we want to go center depth it could look like this...

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Asham-Malkin-Talbot
Cooke-Staal-Kennedy
Conner-Letestu-Adams

-PK now only second in the league. This team desperately needs Jordan Staal.

-Refs missing blatant interference leading to the first goal.

-****ing director on the FSN Ohio feed for cutting to isolated shots of players not involved at the play at all during play! **** you Fox Sports. No network should make me miss the CBC giving its weekly manual pleasure session to the Leafs.

Don't really have a plus/minus, it was a great win but I do have some comments:

Columbus is terrible. Everyone has their duds every season but jesus they just lost 5-0 the other night as well. For god's sake the fourth line was not only cycling the life out of them, they were actually executing tic tac toe plays! Errey brought up a great point as Michalek was ragging the puck during a PK: Columbus simply stopped hitting anyone after the first few shifts of the game. I mean they weren't physical in the least bit.

Obviously they're not the most talented team in the league or anything, but they have some semblance of a decent team there. Mason is a glaring problem, but they're stuck with him so I'm sure they're hoping he grows into at least a reliable NHL starter. I didn't even notice Rick Nash out there for at least a period after he hit Orpik.

I'm sure they're not THIS bad, but I expected to see at least a team that's working like dogs to earn a playoff spot despite some shortcomings. Not that I lose sleep over it, but I can't stand when up and coming teams never......go up or come on. Some teams I just don't understand what they've been doing for the past 5+ years (hello Florida, Minnesota, NYR, NYI, etc.).

+ Crosby. Just keeps on making things happen.
+ That Third-line. Unreal. Conner is showing us he belongs on the team.
+ Defense. Great to see Martin get two goals. But still, that defense does a fantastic job night in and night out to make sure the opposition doesn't get many 2nd chances and boxing out.
+ The bounces going our way on the Powerplay for once.

- Nothing... you nickel and dime too much if you give a - after a pure domination win like this. Can't ask for much else.

Agreed on don't fix what ain't broke, but swap staal and malkin and I like it even better. I think he needs to work the middle to be effective.
+Sid maintaining the point finding magic upper lip rug (is it time to start giving it assists on goals?)
+ pretty much the whole team
+ Disco for leaving the 3rd line alone this long (hope this doesn't jinx it)
-lapses in judgement for about 3 min in the beginning of the 3rd otherwise the whole team played well.

+/- In the 3rd, a puck went out of play. Guy in the crowd gets on camera with an Ian Moran jersey on.

+ for traveling to Cbus and representing.
- for ever thinking buying a Moran jersey was a good idea.

I'd be on board with that either but if team somehow manages to shut down that top line, it gets thin fast. Nevermind, that should be the case now but we're getting it up and down the lineup. Seems worth a look anyway.

Cooke-Staal-Dupuis on the second line is asking for trouble.

Malkin's at a point now with his play where the "moving him to wing" excuse has run its course.

We have a thin line up with our three centers anyways so you might as well use them correctly. By making Malkin a 2nd line winger you are by nature lessening his role. It doesn't matter who you are 2nd line wingers just don't have that great of a impact on the game.

Hoping we try geno with Sid, to get Geno some confidence if nothing else.

Geno Sid Dups
Kunitz Staal Kennedy
Cooke Letestu Asham
Rupp Adams Max
Godard Comrie Conner

Or

Kuntiz Sid Dups
Letestu Geno Asham
Cooke Staal kennedy
Rupp Adams talbot
Godard Comrie Conner

plus to the whole team tonight. It was over after the 1st period, so hard to get much out of the game after that.
