It's weird: you know every team that plays us designs their game plan around him and he's still very consistent.

I thought he was going to regress this year because everyone said "players from other teams will now key on him harder this year"

Dave Lewis just told Jason York he thinks he's the best player in the league.

Glad we signed him long term at 6.5m. If you were another team, could you resist a ridiculous offer sheet?

Best player in the league. He changes the momentum of the game. It's like he literally tilts the ice in favour of your team. He is first person on scoring chances and first person back preventing one from even developing. Eric Staal is one of the best players in the league at skating with the puck and protecting it but Karlsson made him look like a 4th liner, with all due respect to Staal.

Van fan here. Not sure if you guys remember, but one of the things I remember the most of that 2008 draft... was when Karlsson got drafted... and since it was in Ottawa, everyone in the audience was like "wtf?, who the heck is this guy" There was alot of grumbling in the audience.. And the TV commentary had to say "Don't worry OTTAWA HE's GOOD!".

Guess the Tsn guy was right.

Did anyone see Karlsson moving his hands at Gonchar on one of the PPs? I don't think one of the best offensive dman in the past decade ever envisioned being instructed what to do on a pp by another player.

Karlsson's hilarious. Didn't wanna come off in overtime. Shift with Phillips, then shift with Methot right after. Then, ''do I have to?'' with a look of disappointment.

Love that man. If only everyone else could finish his great feeds.

The local sports reporters from the Ottawa Sun interviewed an 'expert' fan who said he had no idea who Karlsson was, but was mad that we picked him.

Karlsson is making me consider buying season tickets and I'm not even over reacting. I'd shell out a few thousand to see this guy play 41 times live.

I believe the line was, "This is how you thank us for coming out, Murray?"

And wasn't he also sure enough of his claims that he decided to put his name out there?

Man I hope someone makes a video package of his game last night. It could easily top 10 minutes. I'm waking up this morning and the only thing I can think of was how good he was.

That's the main course, no desserts though. I'll post it maybe tomorrow, mb after.

We need someone to compile a season long highlight package. So much of this is gold, and there is so much of it that these plays get forgotten as time rolls on.

It just keeps getting better

Karlsson.

Still can't believe we locked him up for 7 years at 6.5 million. What a deal.

Excellent deal. He deserves more though. Wouldn´t feel good at all about the team if he got injured.

Wait, so only a third of his game was highlight reel worthy? Bust.

Some of you guys really need to give it a rest with Karlsson on the main boards.

He's a great defenceman, sure, but what are we: Leaf fans? Can we just keep it on our own boards?

I love oranges, but if people keep trying to force-feed me oranges for 3 meals a day, 7 days a week, I'm going to start to sour on them sooner than later.

I have to agree. I've actually stopped reading the main boards for that very reason. I'd say just leave it, but some people here get off on these same annoying Karlsson threads that are made 5 times a week for whwtever reason. Ah well...

I agree to some extent. I started avoiding the main board threads regarding him in the summer when the same bunch kept defending him and forcing him on everyone, as if he needs to be defended.

Love what we got here in Ottawa and if the rest of hfboards can't acknowledge that then that is their loss. It could be decades before the next Coffey, Bourque, Leech, Karlsson appears in this league. I'll enjoy what we have and let others be disappointed when their inaccurate opinions prove them wrong.

I don't think I can name a single defenceman playing now, other than Karlsson, who would have caught Semin there.

Karlsson had 11 shots last night. That is more than 300 players have all season.
