Sundin. He was the one constant on the Leafs for a long time, always a star, the captain in the second hardest place to play in the league, and he still put up great numbers in the deadpuck era. Awesome consistency.
I'd say around the same, maybe a slight edge to Sundin because he was a more rounded offensive player as he was the much better goal scorer. Sundin never had a season as good as Sedin's last year, but I think that was more of a case of Sedin playing over his head, and this year has been a better example of his current level (still very good).
Tough. As a Canucks fan, I like em both. Sundin will probably end up winning this, but call me crazy, I think Henrik is the more complete player. He isn't just a passer.. He can shoot and score when he doesn't have the talent around him to finish. He proved that last season when his brother was out.
Sundin has the size, and maybe a slight edge on his shot.. That is the ONLY factor that makes him any better than Sedin in my opinion.
As a leaf i think you would still have to choose Sedin if your looking at just their primes. Sundin never had a season like Sedin did last year. Of course Sedin has the advantage of playing with Daniel, but you can't hold that against him. It's too bad Sundin didn't have a twin to play with!
Sundin was a player who stepped up when it was needed in the big games. He proved this time and time again in international play. He was a pretty clutch player in Toronto as well I believe, but obviously not to the same extent. We all know he didn't lead the team anywhere, and we also know it was a poor team most of the time so lets not go there.
Sedin put up a lot of points yes which is awsome, but they seem to come randomly and not when a goal is really needed. He is not a great player like Sundin until he takes a team on his shoulders when it matters.

The furthest the Leafs went under Sundin's captaincy, was when Sundin was injured and Gary Roberts carried the team on his back.
I think.
I don't have the impression Sundin was that clutch or every really carried a team on his back.

The Leafs were actually one of the better teams in the East for half of the decade, but okay.

He was always the one bringing the team back when it seemed like they had nothing left.
He had some pretty big goals:
Not to mention he shares the record for most OT goals in regular season (15).
There's also more than enough clips on YouTube of Sundin tying up/winning games at the end
A few examples:
It was ALWAYS Mats.
Even on those poor post-lockout teams, Sundin still managed 70+ pts every season, even in 07-08 as a 37 year old with absolutely no one good to play with (this was before Antropov broke out). He really deserved better.

Henrik has never scored more than 30 goals, Sundin scored 30-39 goals 10 times, and over 40 goals 3 times.
If you are purely looking at points I think you'd have to say Henrik is having a better prime of his career. However, in the end I think Mats will be looked at as the better player throughout his career. Henrik had some years in the beginning of his career where I seriously wondered if he would even be a 2nd line player, but Mats for years was a solid 1st Line C.
As much as I love Sundin, I think people are putting him a bit on a pedestal here. Sedin won the Art Ross and Hart Trophy last year, against some stiff competition (Ovechkin, Crosby, Stamkos, etc.). Sundin never reached that level in the NHL. Honestly, he never came close.
I will admit that Sundin was more "clutch", so to speak: he definitely scored timely goals and seemed to raise his game when it mattered most. That being said, he was never close to a Hart Trophy winner.
