Rivet is the Sabres captain, but continues to be a healthy scratch and has fallen to #8 on the depth chart, and if he can't crack the lineup soon I can't see the Sabres wanting to keep that potential distraction on the roster much longer. He's on the last year of his deal at 3.5M.

While his value is definitely very low based on his play and contract, are there any teams that could use him for blue line depth? What might the price for him be?

I'd take him back on the Habs given that we have the cap-space and he has an expiring contract. In return i would give up Alex Picard and a Youppi bobble-head doll.

He can't even crack the Sabres top 6? That's tough... looks like he wouldn't be going anywhere then.

If he were traded it would probably be for a 4th or 5th rounder, and to a team who has cap space and needs some leadership/grit/defensive depth heading into the post-season. I could see Washington going after him. He probably wouldn't make a huge difference for them in the post-season, but I'm sure he would help them.

I'm a big Rivet fan and I wish the Sabres could've had him at some point in the prime of his career. He was a beast.

Yeah, our back end is absolutely atrocious. That's why we're number one in scoring from the back end.

He'd be a fine 5th/6th defenseman on a few teams, and he'd be traded for cheap (late round pick).

Buffalo's top four has been great since Sekera got paired with Myers.
