I'm only opposed to trading Couture because he's very valuable and very young, and we have a shortage of youth. If talented youth were coming back I'd be okay with it, as much as I like him. I don't have a great idea of how good Johnson is but I'd definitely be open to a Couture for Johnson deal. As much as we like Couture a young talented defenseman is exactly what we need.

Is it a consensus no on Colaiacovo round here?

Seems like the most likely target in this scenario to me.

I want Pietrangelo but he would cost way too much.

I've thinking the same thing since this summer. Our young stud center for your young stud D man. With the start Couture has had, it's gets harder to pull the trigger on that kind of deal.

Seto, Vasic and a 1st for EJ and Jackman if possible. Or for just Erik Johnson.

I'd do that anyday of the week and maybe even throw in Doherty to get it done.
Makes you a Cup contender instantly. NOt sure if the salaries work though.

Ferry-o has already shown he can replace Seto's speed which at this seems to be his only value to the team presently. Plus, I think Ferry-o is a better player with the willingness to go to the net and get dirty EVERY game.

Johnson-Jackman
Boyle-Murray
Demers- Huskins (wallin an xtra?)

That's a defense with 2 number 1's and plenty of guys who can move the puck and play defense.

You would be eaten alive for suggesting that deal on the main boards.

If it involves Seto, it would be more like:

Seto, Demers, Wingels and a 1st, 2nd

They can't lose any more offense, and they are going to want Demers over Vlasic is my bet.

If we can ship them Heatley (I doubt they want his salary though) I'd do that of course.

It's pointless, cause they are not going to trade EJ.

This thread is funny. Erik Johnson? Alex Pietrangelo?!!
I'll have a gallon of whatever you guys are drinking this Christmas!

Perhaps we could also ask Pittsburgh about Malkin too?

They aren't giving up Erik Johnson or Pietrangelo unless we blow them away with an offer.

From what I have heard Colaiacovo has outplayed EJ and bumped him off first PP. But despite that I agree he is probably the one most available as there is no way they would trade EJ or Pietrangelo.

The knock on Colaiacovo is that he gets injured a lot.

Colaiacovo had a good start to the season, but then he got hurt. He has no points and a minus 8 rating in his last 8 games.

Yeah but the Blues aren't scoring, and the problem is more about their injuries up front. They have the third lowest goals scored in the conference behind Minnesota and Nashville.

not that it means anything, but st louis fans were relatively receptive to a proposed jackman for clowe/setoguchi trade thread i started this past summer. I don't think just setoguchi would get that one done anymore though especially since he is a FA at the end of the year. No way would I trade just clowe for him either.

has anyone been watching jackman this year? i have not been hearing much praise going his way lately.

Give them Pavs or Clowe + picks.

So everyone wants a scoring defencemen? I think Demers, Boyle, and Vlasic (to an extent) are just fine. What the team, I think needs is the defensive type player, who can give players like Demers and Boyle opportunities to be offensive, instead of having to worry about both D-man jumping into the offence.

I think Jackman would be a good fit, and he's better than Hannan.

I think you might really want to reassess your feelings about Vlasic's offensive contributions.

It would probably be more like Clowe or Pavs or Seto + Couture.

Or, for their talented young d man, maybe they would do something like scoring forward(s) (Clowe, Pavs, Seto, Couture, etc.) + Petrecki ...

Thank your for your opinion.

Vlasic has 0 points. Zero. As in less than 1. No goals, no assists, nothing. His on pace for.. wait let me do the math... 0 points.

Salaries have to match up. Pavs + picks and maybe a dman prospect. Johnson's cap hit is 2.6 for this year and next. Second scenario definitely makes more sense. Couture won't be dealt IMO.

Just because some players dont have elite wheels, you think they are slow?

Couture has proved that he is fast.

How about no one for Seto. We keep Seto and trade picks and prospects for non-top-tier guy, as that's what Walker and Pollak are.

Barret, Roman, or Carlo. Preferably either of the last two.

I said to an extent. He's shown he can be an offensive player, he has the know-how, but with the confused defence, I don't think Vlasic gets a fair chance to be an offensive defencemen (mainly on the power play).

By the way, thanks for your reply.
