Im stoked for Miller-Diaz, I am really hoping to see Nate get a title shot. A lot of ppl hate on the Diaz bros but I think they are the epitome of a fighter. Hard working, exciting and bring it to you 100 miles an hour with no fear at all times.
Phil Davis managed to take Gustafsson down and submit him in 1 round. I think Gustafsson did stuff some take downs in the fight, but Davis did get him down. I imagine Jones could do the same.

Oh wow didn't see the 146 change-up. Mir vs Dos Santos and Siva vs Velasquez with Nelson looking for a dance partner now.

Honestly I'm kinda shocked how things get changed up in the UFC. I know Mir wanted Dos Santos and all, but was there really a need to make Silva, Velasquez and Nelson all fight different opponents?

All heavyweight affair on the main card too, hopefully it doesn't back fire like TUF: Heavyweights.

the fights were snoozers for the most part, Rory mac was a beast and hominick got out smashed by a Yagin although if that fight went another round hominick would have won. Rothwell ko'd schaub in a sloppy 1 minute fight, main event was pretty predictable although rashad did land some punches, he just isnt very good and wasnt aggresive enough to be in there with bones imo.

I think its less about Rashad being not very good and more about Jones just being on a completely different level than everyone at LHW.

He has dismantled everyone he has faced, and these guys have been the best of the best at LHW. The scary thing is he is doing this with for the most part just striking. His wrestling is probably his strongest asset and he doesn't even need it anymore.

So what's next for Hendricks, Diaz and Belcher? Heard rumblings that Belcher and Diaz are getting close to title shots, but never heard anything on Hendricks who's beaten quite a few up.

Rumor is Hendricks/McDonald. I can see belcher getting okami. And apparently, BJ turned down the Melendez fight.

I heard BJ turned down the fight with el nino. I'd like to see Belcher fight Boetsch or Belfort, Hendricks should scrap with Kampmann.

As of 3:45 MT you can still buy up to 5 tickets at a time (at the $149.00) price range and there are tickets available in the better levels if you want less than 5 seats together

Anyone watch Strikeforce? I see Cormier dominated on the score cards. Was the fight that lopsided?

Yeah I would say so, which is kind of Ironic in the fact that it looked like the best shape Barnett has been in, in a long long time... Cormier just seemed that much faster in the striking, and even stronger in the grappling department. It was an entertaining card, although Melendez looked somewhat lackluster.

So before I get into the card, WTF is with UFC employees? Never heard Chandell got let go for soft core porn career prior to UFC, then Arianny gets charged with assault but gets the backing of Dana? Read a few people calling it a double standard, although I don't know all the details.

Oh ya then there is Jon Jones who is one of the best pound for pound guys in the world that decides to wrap his Bentley around a pole.

As for the card itself, a damn good one IMO. Only disappointment was no fight of the night award. Some really good performances, I was a bit shocked at how little Mir did but I think he was hurt early. Nelson continues to show some of the best punching power around. Struve with a very good armbar, too bad Johnson took that fight on such short notice though. Velasquez looked really good and I think has to be getting a title shot fairly soon.

As for Lesnar, I wish someone would've hit him from behind with a steel chair WWE style. I see no need for him being ring side. I doubt he has what it takes to be a top 5 anymore.

of course Lesnar doesn't, when you have 2 surgeries to your stomach, and can't take any damaged there as we seen in his last fight where 1 punch, caused too much main in his abdomen, there is no way he would fight again reason he retired.

regarding Mir, he did not look in place for the fight, his glory days are done, hes going to be one of those fighters where if you beat him you will get chance at playing the top, gateway fighter is what Mir will be, hes too damn slow, his game is ground game, couldn't take him down at beginning and gave up rest of fight.

Unfortunate incident in South Dakota, hard to say what the exact cause of Dustin Jenson's death was, but being a bush league event without an ambulance on standby sure as hell didn't help. It's unfortunate, but something I don't see being rectified. No matter what this time of thing will continue to happen. At least this event had insurance, but there are so many that are even worse ran that people continue to fight at.

One industry veteran who's promoted events in South Dakota said regulation is entirely at the discretion of the promoter.

"It's pretty much whatever goes, goes," said Dan Lewis, who recently sold his interest in the Tri-State Cage Fighting promotion. "You'll see [fighters compete] that are drunk. It's just a crazy sport in South Dakota."

An injury has forced Thiago Silva out of his fight against Shogun Rua. Dana White wants Glover Teixeira as a replacement but Shogun's camp has apparently turn this down.

Not exactly.

Quote:
TATAME called Rua’s manager, Julio Heller, who guaranteed they never turned down a fight with Teixeira. In fact, Silva’s injury is not official to them yet.“I just sent a message to the UFC. I’m waiting for their call”, Heller said. “(Turning down a fight with Glover) it’s not true at all”.Julio said they’ll wait for the UFC before making further comments, and the decision to fight Glover, or any other opponent, is in Shogun and his coach Andre Dida’s hands.“We have to wait for the names whey’ll offer, and then we’ll see what we do”.
Also another injury occured today.

Thiago Alves Injured

Quote:
It has not been a good day for UFC 149.

Thiago ‘Pitbull’ Alves, who was expected to face Siyar Bahadurzada, has been forced off the July 21 card in Calgary due to injury.

Sources close to the match-up confirmed Alves’ removal from the card to MMAWeekly.com on Friday.

Sounds like Shogun's camp is in damage control mode after being called out by Dana White.

Sounds more like Dana using his strong arm tactics(Which he has a proven track record of).

controversial stoppage on the arm bar on the facebook prelims tonight. Tight armbar but the fighter never tapped on the mat or verbally, but Winslow stops it anyways.

OFFICIALLY it's by "verbal tapout"
