According to Flyershistory, Giguere hasn't beaten the Flyers since 2003. Six straight losses.

I almost feel bad for the Leaf fans, just no hope there.

It wasn't the best game I've ever seen, but 2 points is 2 points!

Good job boys!

That still smells fishy to me, I think we were probably happy just to get anything for OKT, why would we try to get him back?

Least they held onto the 3 goal lead tonight. Then again, it was against the Leafs.

Of course a goalie wasn't the primary need at that time with Lindbergh.

Craig Billington was all the rage, just ask Terry Simpson.

That's my thought. It would be different if they'd given up anything of value to get him.

Seriously though, nothing in the system, already pissed away 1 pick that could be a franchise guy and look like they will lose another top-5 pick this year.

Awful contracts (Komi and Armstrong at 7 mill combined), etc.

I mean, it's been 6 years of nothing for that franchise and it's likely to be at least 6 more. Even when we sucked, we had some building blocks, I don't really see any building blocks on this Leaf team (and in the system) besides maybe Schenn.

Chris Therien just said "As odd as it sounds, they were better last night."

DGB noted that at the start of the season, Tim Brent and Mike Zigomanis were centers - plural - on a completely healthy Maple Leafs team, and couldn't help but think something went horribly wrong over the summer.

I'd tend to agree with that.

I'd have to go back and check, but I think the Flyers had five picks with Roy still on the board. Scotty Mellanby was one. So was, ugh, Greg Smyth.

Definitely quite a bit worse.

Yeah, I mean, I'm not Homer's biggest fan, but at least he managed the FA stuff okay after 06-07 (even Briere's contract hasn't been a total killer so far and was probably even value last year for the PO performance alone).

Then you look at the Leafs, 6 mill on Versteeg/Armstrong, nearly 4 mill on Bozak, 8.3 on Komi/Beauchemin.

I mean, 18 million dollars, close to a third of the cap, on Versteeg/Armstrong/Bozak/Komi/Beauchemin.

Is there a top-4 d-man or top-6 F in that group?

Just awful.
