Thank you Captain Obvious but I don't think his contract situation has much to do with how he's doing today.

We should give patty a new name to match his play.

"Action basterd" for when he plays crappy
"Duke of New York and you're no. 1" for when he plays good

I'm not really ready to lay the problems of the team at Marleau's feet. He along with several others are not playing to their expectation. What is surprising is seeing him come into the season with a gut. This is a guy who at one time was one of the most fit on the team. But the team problems today are just that - team problems. They all have to get each other going. I still think it will happen. Its a veteran team. I just hope they don't wait too long to discover that fire.

I saw this and had to search through the threads to try to figure out how the hell they traded him.

Patty quit making Logan do all the hard work - move your feet, earn your 6.9 and stop eating all the Frito Lays.

Love,

Since everyone's going back and forth about the "manipulation of stats", I've used the last 8 games (since we began the road trip in Vancouver, and yes this includes the one home game against Detroit).

PlayerGPGAPts+/-PIM
Couture863934
Heatley854902
Clowe827940
Thornton8167-14
Ferriero731450
Pavelski8213-42
Marleau8112-110

Mayers8011-44
McGinn8011-50
McCarthy7000-42
Nichol6000-34

Wingels100000

The verdict: Marleau's sucked BIG time! However, that doesn't mean he's the team's only culprit. Except for Ferriero we're not getting a lot of bottom six help.

Really? You and Easy seem to agree so often. He certainly had a problem with JT's gut. In fact, he's used it to point to how bad JT's off season regiment is.

I don't recall Marleau having a gut. Got a pic?

I didn't really notice anything a few years ago, but I know he has one this season. I don't have a picture, but they've been showing more clips between intermissions this season.

Yup. That gut is notorious x2. Even Huskins has a better body. (no homo)

Thats the absolute worst. The very least a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE (much less one making 6.9 mil a year!) can do is take care of his body. Thats the BARE MINIMUM.

I'm just really disappointed to hear that.

At least give yourself a CHANCE to succeed. He's handicapping himself expecting to perform at a world class level with not even average preparation for the season.

No pic, but many of us mentioned it on a GDT early this season when it was shown jiggling between periods.

I don't have pics for season's past, but it wasn't there in the pics.

You don't need naked, a tight T-shirt will do.

The thing that got me looking on JT was his extended travel over the summer a few years ago. JT isn't doing that anymore. Some time ago, there was a comment from JT that went something like he didn't want to wear himself out for the season. Talk about getting Easy POed.

We get a good preview of who did off-season stuff. See who comes out firing in training camp. It isn't that hard. It is pretty obvious. Michalek was one of the most diligent they ever had.

Well from the reports from the players and the media, Marleau is typically the player in the best shape after the off-season. I don't know too much about the most recent off-season though.

I am taking LZ's word for it for this off-season. I was surprised.

Michalek, Murray and Ehrhoff have been way out there in season's past. Pavelski is very motivated as well.

Best one I could find

Doesn't really show much to significantly help one side of the argument, but it doesn't really look like he has a gut. This was back in 06-07.

Or

which doesn't really show much either since he's wearing a pretty loose shirt. Doesn't seem to have one though.

I wasn't the one that pointed it out. I remember there was a thread, probably a GDT, where someone noticed it. In fact a lot of people mentioned it that day. I've heard it mentioned many times this year with no rebuttal, so I have assumed it to be true. It may have been Wineshark. That rings a bell.

Or did you mean LS? That rings a bell too.

Your repetition was what I read, I assume you took it from your own view or someone else trusted. No biggie. I haven't seen any rebuttal either. If it is multiples then all the more foundation.

For others,
The guy has to be way out there to be able to tell with a hockey sweater. There are a few around the league who are obvious even with the sweater (cough* Getzlaf *cough).

The other helper for over the summer is playing before camp which all of the big 3 did with Team Canada. Please recall last year where they all came out firing. Patty has run a camp for kids with others in Canada; he can do some there if he is hands on during a particular off-season.

I'm not really sure about Getzlaf. We all know he is lazy in the off-season but I've never seen him fat. In fact, I don't think it matters that much for him. Patty is two inches shorter, has a smaller complexion, relies on speed rather than strength but weighs as much as Getzlaf (220lbs).

People's entire basis of saying Marleau has some ghastly gut is the intermission shots of the boys in the room. In general, it's them seeing Marleau sitting down. That has been shown the past few seasons and Marleau has had that the entire time they've shown that shot.

First of all, it's not a shot that tells the story anyway. Secondly, whether you want to say he has a gut or not, it's not his problem...his problem is his aggressiveness lacking.

People are just looking for an excuse to bag on him and pile on while he is sucking ass.
