Rangers are getting desparate to sell 100s & 200s seats

I got a call from a ticket rep. He was telling me that they're selling 3 packs for Winter games. Intrigued I asked the guy what section they were in. He tells me the 100s and 200s. I tell him, I would be interested if they were in the 300s or 400s. He tells me, we don't have any of those, but we're selling these at a discount of $80 per ticket instead of the face value of $100.

I told the guy that it wasn't worth it and that the team has been horrible at home this year, so no thanks.

I find it funny that MSG has been having such a hard time selling those sections. I guess they finally found their limit in that area. That's the last section where regular people buy tickets and corporations don't as much and they've priced out their customers.

They spam me with emails about 3-4 times a week to buy tickets for upcoming games. Sometimes, when interested, I click on the link to see what they are selling and all that is available is 100 and 200 level tickets. I groan, look at the prices, groan again and X out the window.

I don't know who the hell they think can afford the kind of prices they are asking but it certainly isn't most people if they have to continuously advertise to sell tickets when MSG used to be sold out nightly.

When you can watch the game at home for free on a huge TV without spending $10 for a single beer and 15$ for fast food chicken and french fries it makes those ridiculous ticket prices even more unjustifiable.

Exactly... Sometimes I just get a couple buddies together with there wives/girlfriends, and watch the game on TV. Bring food, beer, and its a great time! I will never buy beer or food at MSG...

Eh, I get to go to maybe one game a year, and I always sit up in the 300s. The atmosphere is just much better there.

Maybe if the team was good on home ice and the concession items didn't run you more money than your ticket, this wouldn't be an issue....

I wish they would sell them for much cheaper. It's better they get something for those seats rather they go empty. even if I was rich, i don't think i'm getting square value with those prices.

Not only that, they would benefit from just getting people in the building because they would inevitably purchase concession stand items and also team merchandise....

Go back to 1993 ticket prices (when the team had a higher payroll!) and maybe I'll consider it!

Wouldn't it be nice if they would show their appreciation to STH's in the 300's & 400's and just lay a pair of 100's or 200's on us for a game now and then?

sheesh

I honestly think the view from my 300 center seats are better than the 100 goal seats. Just sayin...

What should they do to show their appreciation to us season ticket holders in the 100s?

Higher payroll? The highest paid player on the team made less than 3 million dollars. Work on your math.

Seriously though, the prices are insane. It's nice to see the market reach it's limit...I doubt they are gonna want to go through this again next year. Hopefully they'll drop the prices next year.

It's no joke. The cost of my tickets actually doubled in 5 years. DOUBLED! I was at $50 in sec 233...now they over $100.

Way too much money especially considereing the travel in there by car costs $40. for parking plus gas. I'm about 55 miles away. Food, drink etc.

Or by train which is what $22 bucks?

I guess at the end of the day, there is almost no inexpensive way to go to a game. No matter how you slice it for season ticket holders the The New York Rangers just aren't recession proof!

It's insane because you can pay $120 and go to a Jets or Giants game and get pretty good seats (ignore PSLs right now). That's only 8 games. 8 x 120 = 960. $100 for 41 games is crazy.

As I said before about 2000 I enquired about getting season tickets and the rep I spoke to said the 100,s and 200,s were all sold out and he could offer 300,s 1 or 2 sections out of the center Ice zone or pretty decent seats in the 400,s. I seem to remember him pushing the 400 level seats which were about $20 a ticket but I found the 300 level at about $30 per ticket a better deal(and these were good seats). Wow have the times changed!

Yeah, but when you're talking over 4 grand PER SEAT in the lower bowl that's ridiculous and most fans cant afford it. Add in concessions and you're talking $10k a season for a pair of seats.

Of course I would want to sit in the lower bowl if the price is reasonable. But for 10 grand a season? F that.

For ten grand I better be sitting on the bench. They can add another folding chair next to Avery.
